Hemorrhoids are a problem for many people. And the number of those who are forced to face it, includes not only the elderly, but also individuals of middle and young age. It's no secret that constipation with hemorrhoids is a frequent phenomenon that brings a lot of discomfort, moreover, it aggravates the course of the disease if it is not treated.

Constipation with hemorrhoids

Problems with bowel evacuation and hemorrhoids are two inseparable phenomena. It constipation becomes the root cause of painful sensations in the anus, the appearance of blood and the prolapse of hemorrhoids. Therefore, get rid of problems with a chair you need as quickly as possible, since chronic constipation with hemorrhoids makes its treatment ineffective.

Causes of constipation with hemorrhoids

The main ones are:

  • Improper diet, namely, a lack of fiber, fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet, enthusiasm for fatty and sweet dishes - all this can cause a delay in stools with hemorrhoids and not only.

  • Lean food, diet, starvation. Insufficient amount of food is poorly advancing along the digestive tract, hence the problems arise as to go to the toilet with hemorrhoids.
  • Diseases of the intestine and organs located near it, in particular, changes in their anatomical structure( tumors, nodes), which causes mechanical obstruction to bowel movement.
  • Indigestion of the gastrointestinal motility, for example, from insufficient water intake.
  • Psychological factors that block the natural urge to defecate. There are people who have any experience or stress causing diarrhea or, conversely, constipation. Psychological characteristics of a person have a direct impact on the processes of his life, including the development of such a delicate problem.
  • Hormonal changes in the body also cause problems with the stool. Such a happy moment in a woman's life, like the birth of a child, can cloud the chronic constipation and hemorrhoids after childbirth.
  • Circulatory disturbances in intestinal vessels, for example, after surgery.
  • A sedentary lifestyle.
  • Some medications are needed to treat other diseases not related to the digestive system. After completing the course of treatment, the problem of constipation usually goes away on its own.

Symptoms of

Many people simply do not notice the onset of the disease. Over time, a person begins to experience discomfort, feeling a certain weight in the anus. Soon, itch, burning and pain join in this feature. The rectum in the process of defecation begins to strain more, which did not occur earlier. Against this background, the first cracks in the anus can come, the hemorrhoidal nodules fall out, which begin to undergo inflammatory processes, atrophy and bleed.

From this moment, there are false desires for defecation, extremely unpleasant sensations and a feeling of fullness in the rectal opening. The natural process of bowel evacuation is disturbed, because the anus is narrowing the hemorrhoidal nodes - this condition is called constipation in hemorrhoids. Sometimes there is a discharge of mucus from the anus, followed by the development of itching and local tissue irritation.

How dangerous is this condition?

Hemorrhoids are always accompanied by the appearance of inflamed swollen nodules at the exit of the rectum, which can be located both inside the anus and on its surface. The nodes look like pouches consisting of stretched fabric and filled with bloody mass.

Exacerbations with hemorrhoids and constipation provoke the creation of excessive pressure in the unit itself, which can lead to an even greater swelling. Such formations create a mechanical barrier to the calves, so the answer to the question of whether constipation can be blocked from hemorrhoids will be quite obvious.

Even if the stool has a normal consistency, with exacerbations of hemorrhoids, bowel evacuation will be accompanied by pain and discharge of blood. If the feces are solid, which is characteristic of constipation from hemorrhoids, they begin to push out the nodes and create the danger of their falling out and infringement.

Also dense feces negatively, from a mechanical point of view, affects even non-inflamed hemorrhoids, injuring them and causing serious bleeding. In addition, the long-term presence of feces in the intestine forms an acidic environment inside it that affects the development of new nodes and destroys the already existing ones, as a result of which the appearance of bleeding may not depend on the act of bowel evacuation.

And, of course, the biggest danger that can be from constipation with hemorrhoids, is the prolapse of the node. If it is pinched by the sphincter of the anus, an emergency condition will develop that requires immediate hospitalization.

Treatment for hemorrhoids and constipation should be selected by a specialist

All this indicates that the treatment of constipation with hemorrhoids is mandatory.

Treatment methods

No matter how many reasons this condition has, what to do with constipation and hemorrhoids, the doctor should decide.

The specialist, after assessing anamnesis and examining the patient, gives him the necessary recommendations and prescribes drugs. Unfortunately, not always the normalization of the drinking regime( 2 liters of water per day) and the revision of their habits( food, lifestyle, etc.) can get rid of problems with bowel movement. Many people with constipation against hemorrhoids require medications, including for the treatment of accompanying pathologies on the part of the digestive tract.

Laxatives as the main method of eliminating constipation should be taken cautiously, as long-term treatment can have the opposite effect - to provoke the development of lazy intestine syndrome, in which the problem of how to go to the toilet with hemorrhoids and constipation will become paramount.

Often prescribed drugs aimed at treating constipation:

  • Dufalac. A drug based on lactulose, which has a prolonged effect, which is treated with courses.
  • Regulax. Lacquer drops based on sodium picosulphate, have a soft laxative effect and dilute solid stools.
  • Guttalax. Drops of laxative action based on triarylmethane, aimed at enhancing intestinal peristalsis.
  • Norma. Lactulose-based laxative syrup, which can be taken prolonged due to its relative safety. Castor oil in the form of capsules
  • Castor oil in the form of capsules. A time-tested product placed in a more convenient form for oral administration, enhances intestinal motility. Read more about castor oil →
  • Mukofalk. Natural laxative, whose action is aimed at softening the stool and increasing it in volume due to the attraction of water, is most relevant for people who eat little.

Treatment should never be prescribed on its own, especially after an operation for hemorrhoids. Only a doctor can make decisions about what to do with constipation and hemorrhoids, what drugs to choose.

Diet

Most people are not serious about the issue of catering with constipation and hemorrhoids, thereby slowing the recovery process. In fact, malnutrition can well provoke the development of this disease. Can this be avoided?

Some food products can increase blood flow in the pelvic area, which in turn can lead to increased blood pressure in the veins of the rectum, thus provoking the onset of the disease. For the treatment of pathology, it is important to abandon salty, spicy, canned food and alcoholic beverages. Diet for constipation and hemorrhoids plays a primary role in treatment.

Nutrition plays a major role in the treatment of hemorrhoids and constipation

Recommendations on nutrition with a predilection for problems with bowel movement:

  1. Large amount of fiber. For constipation, especially after hemorrhoids, it is important to give the body the necessary amount of fiber. To do this, the diet should introduce more fresh vegetables and fruits, cereals, since these are the foods that are rich in it. Fiber in a short time removes toxins from the body, quickly and qualitatively softens the feces, normalizes the cholesterol in the blood, improves peristalsis and the state of the intestinal microflora. Patients often wonder if there is much need to consume fiber. The answer of the doctors is that the more, the better, but, of course, it is not recommended to switch completely to raw diet, everything is fine in moderation.
  2. Fractional power supply. This principle in the diet for constipation and hemorrhoids is mandatory. Eating at least 5-6 times a day in small portions helps to establish the process of digestion.
  3. Drinking regime. The lack of fluid in the body provokes the development of constipation. Fecal masses without sufficient water acquire a more dense structure, and their evacuation from the intestine becomes problematic. A person tries to empty the intestines, but as a result only injures his walls. As a result, hemorrhoids develop over time. Every day every person should drink at least two liters of clean water.
  4. Oil consumption. Adding salads from fresh vegetables to olive or sunflower oil, as well as its consumption on an empty stomach helps to gently adjust the work of the intestine. It is especially recommended to use oil for constipation and hemorrhoids after childbirth and after the operation. Read more about oil use for constipation →

Any treatment is important to be done under the supervision of a doctor, otherwise the consequences may be irreversible. Self-medication with such a delicate problem as hemorrhoids, especially with neglected form or after surgery, often has negative health consequences.
