Temperature in pancreatitis: what to do?
Pancreatitis is a pancreatic disease that occurs as an inflammatory process. It can flow in both acute and chronic forms.
The main symptoms of pancreatitis are :
- Pancreatic edema;
- Too slow production of digestive enzymes;
- Disrupted outflow of pancreatic juice;
- Possible start of self-digestion of the suffering organ and, as a result, inflammation of the abdominal cavity, internal bleeding and shock state of the patient.
Treatment for pancreatitis is mainly aimed at removing pancreatic spasms and improving the production of enzymes necessary for digesting food.
Symptoms of
As a rule, a sudden increase in body temperature may also be added to the primary symptoms of pancreatitis. Such a reaction of the patient can occur in two cases:
- A sharp violation of the diet( taking too fatty, salty, fried or smoked food);
- Sudden exacerbation of the disease on the background of the transferred stress.
In general, the elevated temperature in pancreatitis does not exceed the limits of the subfebrile( 37.2 - 37.4 degrees).
This temperature can last for months, periodically changing its value to a slightly larger or slightly smaller side. This behavior of the body indicates a slow inflammatory process in the organs of the digestive tract.
If the temperature in pancreatitis rises sharply to 38.0 or higher, in this case, the cause may be a more serious complication in the form of a beginning peritonitis or bleeding. This temperature rises already within a couple of hours after the onset of the acute process. Along with fever, the patient may be disturbed by nausea, vomiting, chills, acute pain in the right hypochondrium and general weakness.
Here you should immediately go to a medical facility and not in any case do self-medication to avoid exacerbating the situation. Treatment should only come from a competent specialist.
What should I do?
Elevated temperature in pancreatitis can be completely adjusted by the patient, provided it is subfebrile. In the event that a low temperature lasts for a long time and periodically changes its parameters, the patient should consult a doctor to determine the cause of this behavior.
Most likely, the doctor will prescribe treatment in combination with a completely fat-free diet and mineral water treatment to split the body's fats.
If the patient is concerned about too high a temperature, then it means that the organism most likely undergoes irreversible processes of decomposition of the pancreas, which will inevitably cause a shock state of the patient.
This also includes the problem of changing the temperature of the patient's body in a smaller direction. If the temperature has dropped below the 36.0 mark, then it can speak of dehydration or the collapse that has already occurred( shock).
Treatment of high subfebrile temperature, which occurred against the background of acute pain in the area of the suffering organ, should be to remove the spasm of the pancreas. It is appropriate to take half a tablet of analgin and give the body complete peace and absolute diet. The attending physician may also inject an anti-inflammatory drug for an acute condition.
The low temperature that the patient experiences periodically can be knocked down with various herbal decoctions:
- calendula,
- coltsfoot,
- dogrose,
- hawthorn,
- mint,
- corn stigma.
Folk treatment is widely applicable for pancreatitis.
However, remember that pancreatitis is an inflammatory disease that has a destructive effect on the pancreas. And the temperature itself is evidence of the organism's struggle with the arising complications in the work of the body. Therefore, self-treatment with pancreatitis can have adverse effects.
Try to always get support and recommendations from specialists before applying this or that medicine recommended for pancreatitis! Stay always healthy and vigorous!
