And in its composition there is a very rare biological active substance - silymarin, which provides the liver with protection and has a general strengthening and immunomodulating effect on the body.

In addition, the composition of milk thistle includes about two hundred components, among them fatty acids, flavovignanes, quercetin and many others. That is why it is used in medicine as a remedy, including for the treatment of the pancreas - pancreatitis.

It promotes the regeneration of damaged cells and normalizes the production of hormones by the gland in pancreatitis. As a result, the patient shows a positive dynamics in a few weeks after the start of the use of seeds.

In addition, milk thistle has a beneficial effect on the whole body. It helps to eliminate toxins, against the background of which the work of all organs and systems improves. After all, toxins lead to internal poisoning of the body and slow down the metabolic processes in it. Milk thistle oil contains no less useful substances than in this plant in a dried form. Namely:

  • macronutrients - iron, potassium, calcium and magnesium;
  • enzymes, which contribute to the improvement of the pancreas.

Ingredients of thistle, which strengthen the cell membrane, make it less susceptible to chemical agents and decay products. Therefore, the intake of this medicinal plant in pancreatitis is very useful and leads to a rapid recovery.

In addition to the seeds of milk thistle and oil, patients are also advised to use infusion. Prepare it from the leaves and roots of the plant, which are ground to a powdery state, are poured with boiling water and infused for 12 hours. After the infusion, filter and take inside 1/3 cup three times a day.

Contraindications

As mentioned earlier, pancreatitis very often occurs with other diseases, in which the intake of powdered milk thistle seeds and oil from it is contraindicated.

These diseases include:

  • disorders of the nervous system against which depressive conditions and epilepsy occur;
  • asthma, as when taking milk thistle in 50% there is shortness of breath;
  • cholelithiasis, due to the strong choleretic properties that infusions and oils from this plant possess;
  • the phase of exacerbation of pancreatitis and appendicitis;
  • individual intolerance( milk thistle can cause allergy, which can be accompanied by skin rashes, vomiting and loose stools);
  • excess of phosphorus and potassium in the body;
  • age under 12 years.

This is not all contraindications, in which the use of milk thistle is prohibited. Therefore, you need to use it only after a preliminary consultation of the doctor and a complete examination, as some diseases can be asymptomatic and can be detected only by using special medical equipment.
