Pearl barley

Porridge in diseases of the pancreas

Diet in pancreatitis should contain a sufficient amount of vitamins and trace elements. Food should always be fresh, slightly under-salted and with the exception of dishes that increase the secretory function of the stomach and provoke swelling of the intestine.

In pancreatitis, the replacement of animal protein and fat with an analogue of plant origin is used. Steaming for a couple is much more preferable than the others, and all products must be crushed or boiled to a liquid state, thereby facilitating the work of the pancreas.

Cereals in pancreatitis, like other dishes, should be present on the menu frequently, but in small doses. All the popular porridges can be divided into several groups:

  1. recommended porridges for pancreatic diseases, including:
    • buckwheat, useful for the cardiovascular system;
    • semolina, which does not load the stomach;
    • oatmeal, serving to regulate blood sugar;
    • rice, which facilitates the removal of toxins from the body and toxins;
  2. allowed, including barley, which is a dietary dish;
  3. not recommended:
    • pea;
    • corn;
    • millet.

Pearl barley

Millet and legumes in pancreatitis are tolerated with extreme caution and only with long remission, as the high content of starch and coarse fiber in them significantly loads the damaged pancreas and leads to a sharp exacerbation.

Wheat porridge in both pancreatitis and other diseases of this body is not on the forbidden list, but, rich in gluten, it fills the stomach, giving the impression of satiety, although the body does not receive any nutrition at the same time. Therefore, with acute pancreatitis, wheat porridge should be avoided until a long-term remission occurs. Do not enter the diet the same cereals daily, it is advisable to consume them in turns.

Pearl barley takes its name from the word "pearl", or "pearl", for its similarity in shape and size to the river pearls. Pearl barley and its use

The following types of pearl barley are known:

  • pearl barley, or groats produced from whole barley with a remote shell;
  • "Dutch", which is a grain of whole grain, which has undergone a deeper processing;
  • a yak, or barley groats, which is essentially a normal barley, only crushed.

The yak is used much wider than the barley. In addition to porridge, soups and dumplings are prepared from it, and also used for stuffing game, poultry and fish. Differences in utility between the egg and pearl bar practically do not exist, in addition to the fact that there is more fiber in the barley, since, unlike the pearl barley, it does not undergo polishing.

Pearl barley contains :

  • amino acids, including lysine, which contributes to the development of an anti-aging collagen and helps fight microbes and viruses;
  • vitamins PP, E, A, D and group B;
  • microelements, including potassium, nickel, manganese, calcium, iron, cobalt, molybdenum, strontium, iodine, copper, bromine, phosphorus, chromium;
  • cellulose, an amount superior to that of wheat;
  • is a protein whose nutritional value is superior to wheat protein.

Broth puffs can be used in the treatment of :

  • digestive organs due to its enveloping and softening effect;
  • diseases of the genitourinary system, gallbladder and liver due to its anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic and easy diuretic action.

  • catarrhal diseases as an expectorant and a general restorative;
  • hypolactation.

In addition, in water, which was previously soaked pearl barley, contains gordecin - an antibiotic, which is used in the treatment of fungal diseases of the skin.

Contraindications

Perlovka is not recommended for patients with high acidity of the stomach and having a tendency to flatulence and frequent constipation. Do not get carried away by it and pregnant women because of the specific protein gluten contained in the barley. In men who abuse pearl barley, there may be a decrease in potency.

Prescription

In case of exacerbation of peptic ulcer of stomach and duodenum, chronic colitis and pancreatitis patients are recommended well-diluted pearl barley. In doing so, it must be prepared, following the following recipe:

  1. Thoroughly wash the pearl barley from dust and starch in hot water several times.
  2. Fill the washed pearl bar with cold water for each glass of cereals - a liter of water and leave to soak overnight. To make the porridge turn out to be as gentle as possible, you can use kefir or curdled milk instead of water for soaking.
  3. In the morning, drain the water and pour the boil again with boiling water or warmed up to 40ºС milk at the rate of 1: 3 and cook for 6 hours, without stirring, preferably in a water bath. You can put porridge in the oven.
  4. It is recommended to eat a pearl bar immediately after preparation. Having cooled down, it becomes tasteless and more difficult to digest.

Perl porridge is considered to be a "health porridge".Inclusion of it in the diet in pancreatitis helps to unload the sick body and give it a sparing regimen, however, like any other product, pearl barley should be used in moderation.
