Under the periosteum, an abscess( abscess) begins to form gradually in the affected area. In some cases, from the formed abscess, pus very quickly comes out, laying a fistulous passage through the gum. In the case of an adverse course of periostitis, the pus extends to the soft maxillary tissues, thereby causing their diffuse inflammation( phlegmon);or affects the bone of the jaw, leading to osteomyelitis( bone purulent inflammation)
