CMT physiotherapy: what is it, indications and contraindications

CMT therapy, what it is, indications and contraindications for this method of treatment in detail in the article below.

A wide variety of methods are used to alleviate or eradicate pathologies associated with joints, the most effective of which is physiotherapy.

The most popular procedure in this method is amplipulse therapy. Its essence is extremely simple, and consists in the action of a sinusoidal modular current at the site of the painful part of the body.

Such currents should be only low-frequency, which will make it possible to protect a person and exclude all possible negative points.

In this technique, the action of an electric current occurs every allotted period of time with the same pause time.

The name of this action is electrical stimulation, between which the relaxation of the painful area begins and the subsequent "electric" sleep.

Amplipulse

For such treatment, you will need to use an apparatus called "Amplipulse", from which the name of this treatment method came. It was released back in the Soviet period, in the 60s. Even then, its analgesic effect and a positive effect on the diseased tissue area were studied and proven.

At the moment there are a large number of different models under the numbers: 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The differences lie in the individual characteristics of the application and functionality. The most applicable models are 4 and 5.

What is amplipulse therapy and how it works

To use such an apparatus, it is necessary to connect several electrodes through which an electric current with a low frequency will subsequently be transmitted.

After the simultaneous passage of the current through the electrodes, there comes a pause time.

Each time, the current strength increases slightly, but in no case will it reach the critical limit.

With this stimulation with an electric current, some fibers in the muscles of a person begin to contract spontaneously. A person this time can feel small vibrations, or less often - tingling. The procedure does not cause severe pain.

Amplipulse therapy provides the body with the following benefits:

  • Improving the blood supply to this area
  • Regenerative processes are activated
  • Muscle tone increases
  • Improves tissue nutrition

The cells affected by the disease, with the help of improved blood supply and nutrition, begin to recover. The inflammatory process is also reduced during amplipulse therapy.

A single procedure gives only an analgesic effect; to completely get rid of the disease, several sessions will be required.

Amplipulse therapy for the treatment of joints and back

Amplipulse therapy is the most effective treatment for diseases of the joints and bones in comparison with other methods. The main advantages are as follows:

  • Anesthetic effect
  • Bone restoration
  • Improving blood supply to joints and bones
  • Elimination of muscle mass atrophy
  • Elimination of edema and inflammation

Due to the fact that the current with a low frequency is capable of deep penetration into the skin, regeneration of cells, and in the affected areas the blood supply is normalized, and as a result - food.

The muscle fibers surrounding the bones and joints become stronger and thus atrophy stops. This helps to keep the joints and bones from moving.

Painful sensations and spasms stop when exposed to sinusoidal modular currents by the end of the first session.

Preparing for the session

Before carrying out the amplipulse therapy procedure, it is not required to take any special measures. This technique can be performed on an outpatient basis, so a person does not need to go to the hospital.

The only requirement from the patient is to be in the physical room at the time appointed by the attending physician. Based on the disease and its neglect, such sessions are held every day, or every other day.

In severe cases, two amplipulse therapy may be required for one day. The pause between them should be at least 5 hours.

Features of procedures for osteochondrosis

For complex treatment osteochondrosis the device "Amplipulse" can also be used, which will allow:

  • give an analgesic effect;
  • remove inflammation;
  • improve the supply of blood to the spine;
  • regenerate cartilage tissue.

With this disease, the patient will need to lie on his stomach, face down. The electrodes are attached to the back. Often they are placed precisely on the painful area - in the cervical, thoracic, or lumbar regions.

If the patient has sharp pains or nerve endings squeezed between the vertebrae, or a noticeable damage to the cartilaginous tissue, then the electrodes can be located over the entire surface of the back.

Safety and efficiency

If you use the described method according to all the rules, then this device is as safe as possible. To warn the patient from an accident, the doctor in the physical room must strictly follow all safety measures.

The high efficiency of this treatment method lies in the ability of low-frequency current to penetrate deeply into tissues, which stimulates them and restores the natural processes of regeneration, blood supply, cell nutrition and outflow lymph.

Because of this, the healing process is accelerated dramatically. Even after the first session, you can see the result in the form of the disappearance of pain.

CMT therapy in practice

During the session, the patient can lie down or sit down, based on the location of the affected areas. The doctor attaches to the skin special angular electrodes in the amount of two or more pieces in the right places, according to a special diagram.

After that, the doctor activates the apparatus and the production of low-frequency currents begins. It slowly increases the force until the patient vibrates.

Based on the sensations, the doctor manually changes the strength of the current, the duration of its exposure, the frequency of pauses and other parameters. This will allow you to achieve a more effective effect of the procedure.

Amplipulse therapy lasts on average from ten to twenty minutes, and in severe cases up to forty minutes or longer. The attending physician can slowly increase the amperage from one session to the next.

During the procedure, the person needs to completely relax the whole body.

Indications and contraindications

The positive effect of the amplipulse procedure can be obtained with the following diseases:

  • Osteochondrosis of any of the departments;
  • Radiculitis;
  • Arthritis;
  • Arthrosis;
  • Hernia in the spine;
  • Periarthritis;
  • Closed fractures;
  • Spinal deformity;
  • Clamping of nerve roots;
  • Other ailments associated with the musculoskeletal system.

This procedure is associated not only with diseases of the joints, bones, or the spine. A doctor may recommend this method for the following ailments:

  • Inflammation in the internal organs (in the kidneys, genitourinary system, lungs, etc.);
  • Diseases of the central nervous system (also, with impaired motor function);
  • Vascular atherosclerosis;
  • Headache;
  • Lymphostasis;
  • Obesity of any degree;
  • Visual impairment and more.

CMT physiotherapy can be applied to a patient of absolutely any age, even a child. But, despite the low danger of this method, it has some contraindications. Among them:

  • High body temperature;
  • Inflammation with pus;
  • Pregnancy;
  • Bleeding;
  • Neoplasms;
  • Diseases of the heart and blood vessels;
  • Using a pacemaker
  • Varicose veins;
  • Open fracture.

Also, it is necessary to abandon this method of treatment if there is an intolerance to electric current, although such cases are quite rare in patients.

The duration of the session and the power of electrical impulses are controlled independently by a specialist and individually for each patient.

This procedure, without any negative effects, will help to relieve pain, and later completely cure the disease.

In this case, you should contact only qualified specialists in order to prevent violations of the rules for the procedure and operation of the Amplipulse device.

Also, before that, you must definitely consult a doctor and find out about the possibility of conducting therapy in your case, then SMT physiotherapy will only have a positive effect.
