a brief description of

  • The active ingredient - Omeprazole - is a white or practically white fine crystalline powder.
  • Group of drugs: Proton pump inhibitors.
  • Available without a prescription in pharmacies.
  • Price varies from 70 to 290 rubles depending on the region and the number of pieces in the package.

Compound

Omez, in comparison with other means of this series, has a simple composition. Omeza acts as an active active ingredient Omeprazole. It is extremely popular with pharmacists. Its main purpose is to treat diseases of the digestive tract. Its action is aimed at normalizing the process of secretion of gastric juice, combating high levels of acidity, as well as reducing the negative impact of environmental factors on the gastric receptors.

The activation of the action of the active substance is also facilitated by the presence in the composition of Omez and auxiliary components:

  • Mannitol and Lactose;
  • Sodium lauryl sulfate and Anhydrous sodium hydrogen phosphate;
  • Sucrose and Hypromellose.

Release form

There are several forms of Omez release:

  • Tablets with different quantitative composition of Omeprazole (40, 20 and 10 mg).
  • Powder that is diluted into a suspension.
  • Lyophilisate used when it is necessary to create a solution for injection.

Only a specialist after a thorough examination can determine which form of the drug should be taken by the patient.

Pharmacodynamics

The main active ingredient of the drug is activated when it gets into an acidic environment. In this case, Omeprazole is converted into a derivative form of Sulfenamide, which binds the enzyme system and ATP nucleic acids into one whole. As a result, the last stage of the movement of hydrogen ions is blocked. They are replaced by potassium ions. The result of the action of Omez is the inhibition of the process of the release of hydrochloric acid.

As a result of taking one dose of the drug, it begins to act in 1 - 1.5 hours. The maximum effect after taking Omez occurs in 2 - 2, 5 hours.

After stopping the medication, the glands that produce gastric secretions resume their activity for about 5 days. Experts note the high absorption rate of Omez, which is due to the fact that the gelatinous shell of the tablets dissolves directly when it enters an acidic environment. The drug is excreted through the kidneys in the urine.

In what cases is assigned

Omez has a wide range of effects. This allows you to prescribe it for such diseases:

  • stomach and duodenal ulcer;
  • damage to the lower part of the esophagus, provoked by the periodic secretion of the contents of the stomach or intestines in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • erosive or ulcerative lesions of the duodenum or stomach;
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD);
  • gastrinoma;
  • reflux esophagitis;
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome;
  • erosion of the upper part of the stomach, which develops against the background cirrhosis;
  • the development of an infection that destroys beneficial bacteria on the gastric mucosa;
  • gastritis;
  • heartburn.

Often, Omez is taken as a preventive measure. For example, in order to exclude the possibility of a relapse of gastric or duodenal ulcers. Also, the drug can be prescribed to the patient 2 - 3 hours before the operation in order to prevent the possibility of the acid secretion of the stomach entering the respiratory system.

The need for taking Omez can be determined by the attending doctor only after an examination, including endoscopy of the duodenum and stomach. This will allow the specialist to determine the presence of any abnormalities or the initial stage of oncology. The drug has the ability to mask the symptoms of cancer, which in the future can significantly complicate the formulation of an accurate diagnosis.

Contraindications

It should be noted that, like all other medications, Omes has contraindications for admission. These include:

  • high sensitivity (intolerance) of the drug or its separate component;
  • age;
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • intestinal obstruction;
  • bleeding of the gastrointestinal tract;

  • In the case of diagnoses such as erosion or ulceration, violation of the integrity of the walls of the stomach or intestines, provoked by the use of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), the dose of taking Omez remains unchanged (1 - 2 tablets), but the course of treatment has already lasted 1.5 - 2 months.
  • When diagnosed reflux esophagitis, or, if necessary, to exclude the recurrence of this disease, the doctor may prescribe a course of taking Omez for 5 to 6 months.
  • The diagnosis of gastrinoma involves an individual approach to the choice of dosage. This is due to the different level of gastric secretion in each case. At the initial stage of treatment, it is recommended to take 3 tablets per day, and subsequently the dose can be increased from 4 to 6 tablets twice a day.

If the patient develops bacteria Helicobacter pylori, which led to the development of gastritis or ulcers, Omez is prescribed in combination with drugs with antibacterial properties. In this case, the drug should be taken 1 tablet for 1 or 2 weeks.
