Hemorrhoids, external and internal

Hemorrhoidal disease is one of the most common ailments in the proctological area; this disease is characterized by a cavernous expansion of the body in the rectum.

People usually do not pay attention to its symptoms, and that is why, the course of the disease is complicated.

Hemorrhoidal disease in women can occur during pregnancy and after childbirth.

During pregnancy, hemorrhoidal disease is difficult to treat, because many medications have a bad effect on how the fetus will develop.

Therefore, before planning a pregnancy, consult a proctologist to prevent the development of the disease during the pregnancy itself.

Hemorrhoidal disease in men is also no less common, this ailment is formed due to the fact that men spend most of their time in sitting position, and due to the fact that there are disturbances in the work of the digestive system, as well as frequent and uncontrolled use of alcoholic beverages and smoking.

The place where the rectum and the skin around the sphincter split is the jagged line. When the vessels change above the line, this is an internal hemorrhoid, but if it is lower, it is an external (external) hemorrhoid.

Internal hemorrhoids differ from external ones not only in the methods of treatment, but also in the place of localization of the disease.

External hemorrhoids

External hemorrhoidal disease is characterized by a change in the external hemorrhoids, this leads to the fact that the blood stagnates, and because of this, the nodes become inflamed and thrombosis can begin.

Reasons for the appearance of external hemorrhoids

The following are the reasons why external hemorrhoids can develop:

  • Frequent constipation.
  • Prolonged diarrhea.
  • Heavy pregnancy.
  • Getting injured during childbirth.
  • Lack of physical activity.
  • Lifting weights.
  • Uncontrolled intake of spicy foods.
  • Alcohol abuse.

Distinguish between acute and chronic external hemorrhoids. Some doctors concluded that the acute manifestation of hemorrhoids is just a manifestation of a hemorrhoidal disease that has not been previously diagnosed.

Symptoms of the external form of hemorrhoids

With a non-exacerbated inflammatory process, patients often do not feel any unpleasant sensations, but when a relapse occurs, the patient may be disturbed by symptoms such as:

  • The presence of blood in the stool.
  • The appearance of cracks in the sphincter (and sometimes bleeding).
  • Unpleasant sensations in the sphincter area, such as itching or irritation.
  • Painful sensation during bowel movements.
  • Human detection of bumps near the anus.

Diagnosis of external hemorrhoids

It is possible to diagnose the presence of external hemorrhoidal disease during the first external examination. IN

the area of the anus is determined by cones, they can be clearly seen, and can only be felt. In some patients, these nodules may have a blue tint, which may indicate the development of thrombosis.

When pressing on it, the patient experiences painful sensations. During an exacerbation, the area around the anus swells and turns red.

There are also ways to diagnose an ailment, they are needed in order to help a specialist in clarifying the diagnosis and to identify concomitant diseases.

During anoscopy and sigmoidoscopy, the entire rectum is examined to exclude the combined form of hemorrhoids

In the event that the above methods were uninformative, then the specialist prescribes a colonoscopy and examines the entire intestine.

In order to make a correct diagnosis, an ultrasound of the patient's rectum also helps specialists, it is needed for better visualization of changes in the veins.

External hemorrhoids treatment

With the conservative treatment of external hemorrhoids, you will only get rid of the symptoms of the disease, but you will not be completely cured.

Quite often, doctors prescribe various ointments to reduce swelling, discomfort, and to relieve pain.

Also, patients are advised to follow a special diet and be more active.

One of the most effective methods in the treatment of external hemorrhoidal disease is getting rid of hemorrhoids by removing them. This method is better than the others in that it will completely rid you of hemorrhoids.

The operation is performed using local anesthesia; after the operation, the patient is immediately released home.

Treatment of external hemorrhoids with folk remedies

Consider some of the most effective ways to treat an ailment with folk remedies:

  1. The use of sea buckthorn oil is considered the most effective way to treat the external form of hemorrhoids; for this, a cotton swab is used, which is pre-moistened with sea buckthorn oil. It can be inserted into the rectum or attached to the sphincter.
  2. Using potato candles. The potatoes are peeled, we cut out an oblong shape of candles from it, which will be approximately 7-10 mm in diameter and 4-5 cm long, it is recommended to round the edges of the candle. It is located with these candles, in the anus, it is recommended to repeat this procedure all night for 10 days. You can also grate potatoes and make lotions.

Internal hemorrhoids

Internal hemorrhoids is a disease in which the vessels of the rectum dilate. The disease most often remains invisible, because it is impossible to see how the vessels change. Internal hemorrhoids most often appear in women during childbirth.

Reasons for the appearance of internal hemorrhoids

One and the most important reason for the development of hemorrhoids is the possibility of bipedal locomotion.

Indeed, due to the constant stay in an upright position, problems occur, blood flows from the organs that are located in the lower part of the body.

In order for hemorrhoids to appear, two factors are needed: high pressure in the abdominal cavity and weakness of the vascular wall.

With increased intra-abdominal pressure, the veins of the rectum are compressed. A weak vascular wall is subject to stretching, and it does not return to its original state.

High intra-abdominal pressure occurs when:

  • With frequent constipation.
  • When lifting weights.
  • Overweight.

And the walls of blood vessels that are prone to stretching are found when:

  • For various diseases.
  • During pregnancy.
  • And the violation of the elasticity of the walls of blood vessels can be transmitted from generation to generation.

Diagnosis of internal hemorrhoids

Since symptoms do not appear, it is very difficult to diagnose internal hemorrhoids if it is at an early stage.

If, nevertheless, there are suspicions of the presence of this ailment, then palpation of the rectum is performed, and only in this case the specialist can understand whether there are formations, how many of them, and what density they are.

Also, sometimes the method of anoscopy or sigmoidoscopy can be performed.

Types of internal hemorrhoids

This disease can be classified according to the following stages:

  • In the first stage, there are almost no symptoms.
  • In the second stage, hemorrhoids may be visible
  • At the third stage, the hemorrhoids already fall out, and cannot be pulled back on their own, they can be adjusted only with the hands.
  • At the fourth stage, the knots that have fallen out can no longer be adjusted even manually, the patient always feels pain.

Internal hemorrhoids treatment

There are two methods of treatment: operative and conservative. Surgical intervention is carried out in a hospital setting, if there are indications for this.

And the essence of conservative treatment is that the doctor prescribes drug therapy. The specialist has information about the therapy of internal hemorrhoids, he independently, and individually for each, prescribes a course of treatment.

There are several groups of drugs, we will consider them below:

  • Venotonics (detralex, phlebodia, etc.).
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs (ointments and rectal suppositories).
  • Analgesics (pain relievers).
  • Antiseptics (calendula, seaweed, phenol).

Folk methods are also quite diverse, they use herbal infusions, various decoctions, you can also make ointments and candles.

Preventive measures

Internal and external hemorrhoids equally need prevention, it is recommended to follow a diet (it will be described in more detail below).

It is important not to take, and even more so not to abuse, alcoholic beverages. If you spend most of your time sitting, it is very important to do warm-ups.

It is also recommended not to lift weights and carry out special gymnastic exercises.

Prevention is very important for those with external and internal hemorrhoids that can be passed on from generation to generation.

Diet for external hemorrhoids

  • Flour products should be made from wholemeal flour.
  • Eat white meat.
  • The use of fermented milk products.
  • Foods high in fiber.

What should not be consumed
