When duspatalin is prescribed

Duspatalin is prescribed for colic, spasms, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, accompanied by pain and bloating, impaired permeability of bile and juice in the duodenum (sphincter dysfunction Oddi).

Duspatalin for acute pancreatitis

When treating acute pancreatitis with an exacerbation of a chronic form, doctors try to reduce the patient's load on the pancreas, reduce swelling, and anesthetize.

Duspatalin drug

Removal of spasm from the pancreas and the sphincter of Oddi (the valve of the duodenum that regulates the flow of bile and pancreatic juice) occurs through the introduction of antispasmodics injections. Duspatalin is available in the form of tablets and capsules, taken by mouth, and is not suitable for such treatment.

Duspatalin for chronic pancreatitis

In chronic inflammation, there is a loss of elasticity in the tissues of the organ, leading to motor dysfunction. Duspatalin helps to maintain tone, regulates the work of the gland, the level of the bile duct, preventing congestion. Timely outflow of secretion promotes remission of pancreatitis.

In the chronic form of the disease, the days of remission are replaced by periods of exacerbations. The main thing in treatment is to establish a stable remission. The exacerbation phases are similar to acute pancreatitis, similar processes of lower intensity occur.

Duspatalin is not used for exacerbations and acute pancreatitis. With an unexpressed period, without severe pain and vomiting, it is allowed to resort to the help of a drug.

The main property of duspatalin is considered to relieve pain, which becomes salvation for the patient in difficult times.

Complex therapy

Duspatalin is taken for pancreatitis as part of complex therapy.

How to apply?

The tablets contain 125 mg of mebeverine, and the capsules contain a larger amount - 200 mg of mebeverine. Due to the difference in dosage, the method of taking the medicine is also different.

The capsules have a prolonged duration of action and are taken in the morning and evening 20 minutes before meals. The action of the capsules is enough for 16 hours, the action gradually intensifies.

The action of the tablets at a lower dosage occurs faster, within 4 hours. In a similar dosage form, duspatalin should be taken 3 times a day, before meals for 20 minutes, without chewing, drinking plenty of water.

The drug does not accumulate in the body, it is excreted in the urine during the day. When the drug effect is achieved and the symptoms are eliminated, the dose of the antispasmodic must be reduced.

If you continue to take duspatalin for a long time (within 6 months), there are no side effects that seriously affect your health. The drug does not cause addiction. The duration of the course depends on the presence of symptoms.

The article lists the recommended dosages, the method of taking the medicine to the patient is determined by the appointment of the attending physician.

An overdose symptom is nervous overexcitement. Eliminating this effect, the stomach is cleansed by flushing. Symptomatic treatment is recommended for sedation.

With so few side effects, duspatalin has become one of the recommended medicines for treatment. If you take the drug without carrying out complex therapy in the treatment of the disease, you should not expect a big effect.

Drug analogs

To eliminate spasms and pain syndrome, many antispasmodics have been developed that are used for chronic and acute pancreatitis.

Duspatalin withstands competition due to its effectiveness, it has an effect 20 times stronger than papaverine.

Some similar drugs have an atropine-like effect: the heart rate is disturbed, the secretion of the glands decreases, the intraocular pressure rises, and urinary retention occurs.

Duspatalin loses compared to its peers in cost. The price at the beginning of 2017 is 500-600 rubles. Before the economic crisis in 2008, the cost was two times lower.

Analogs containing mebeverin as the main active ingredient are: Sparex (Russian-made), Niaspam (Indian-made) and Mebeverin tablets.

Drugs of this action include Trigan, No-shpa, Papaverin, Dicetel, Dibazol, Bendazol and Buscopan.

According to reviews of people with pancreatitis, duspatalin helps to eliminate disorders of the digestive system, relieves pain. Patients note the appearance of the effect of the drug within half an hour, lasting a long time. There are few negative reviews about the drug. More often, these are associated with a lack of effect and individual intolerance. With severe pain, the drug eliminates the symptom after 2-3 days of constant use.

The ineffectiveness of the drug is associated with the presence of gastritis or ulcers.
