Reception schemes

Omeprazole has a prolonged effect due to a decrease in the activity of peptides and enzymes, which, against a background of high aggressiveness, can provoke maceration of the epithelium.

After this process, the level of secretion production decreases, which performs a protective function relative to the shell of the gastrointestinal tract.

Omeprazole is sold in pharmacies in tablets, capsules and injections. The active ingredient of the drug is omeprazole. The drug in capsules is available in a blister pack. One pack contains 1-4 plates.

You can buy Omeprazole in a polymer jar with 30 or 40 tablets. Powder for injection is available in vials. One package contains 5 bottles.

Omeprazole with broad indications for admission is effective for diarrhea, which accompanies diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract.

The medication is prescribed for adult patients and children over 5 years of age with the following indications:

  • complex therapy of the active phase of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, which is provoked by Helicobacter pylori infection;
  • to eliminate the GE syndrome;
  • for relief of GR;
  • to eliminate a mild form of heartburn, which lasts more than 2 days;
  • course therapy for endoscopically confirmed EE;
  • therapy of gastropathies associated with taking NSAIDs.

Omeprazole is not taken if the patient has an intolerance to one of its components. Also, the medication is not taken during pregnancy.

Scientists have proven that taking the drug in question in the 1st trimester of bearing a baby contributes to the development of the fetus.

Therefore, Omeprazole is prescribed as a last resort, when there is no benefit from other analog medications, and the effectiveness of the drug exceeds its adverse reactions.

The medication quickly and well penetrates into the circulatory system, including breast milk, so it should not be taken by women during breastfeeding.

Omeprazole effectively reduces the acidity of gastric juice, so it is contraindicated for taking:

  • patients suffering from low acidity gastritis;
  • patients with atrophic gastritis.

Omeprazole is not prescribed for patients with oncological pathology in the stomach and duodenum.

With such a diagnosis, the drug may affect the current symptomatology, changing it, which will complicate the final diagnosis.

Scientists have proven that Omeprazole in oncology stimulates the growth of an existing neoplasm.

Of the other existing contraindications to taking the medication, experts attribute osteoporosis. Omeprazole is prone to unexpected bone fractures.

It leaches calcium from the bones, which can increase the symptoms of the disease. In a severe case, therapy with this medication is allowed under the guise of vitamin D and calcium preparations.

Before drinking Omeprazole, it is recommended to make sure that patients do not have the following conditions:

  1. Malignant tumor in the gastrointestinal tract.
  2. There is an intestinal infection in the GI tract, including salmonella, compilobacter. Against the background of taking the drug, their reproduction increases.
  3. PN contributes to a sharp slowdown in the biotransformation of the drug. This phenomenon is explained by the toxic inflammation of the cells of the affected organ. Insufficiency negatively affects the withdrawal of the drug from the body, slowing down this process.

The action of the medication

The practical use of the drug is allowed not only with an exacerbation of an ulcer, but also with the aim of preventing this disease with the manifestation of risk factors.

Omeprazole has a good effect with a short-term attack of heartburn after taking a provoking food product. You can eliminate the attack 10-20 minutes after taking Omeprazole.

Due to the prolonged effect, the relapse of unpleasant sensations in the stomach is prevented for 18 hours. This period depends on the degree of absorption of the constituent components of the drug in the stomach cavity and TC.

Against the background of Omeprazole therapy, the main activity of the secretory cells of the epithelium continues. More often, the inhibition process concerns the cells that are responsible for the production of hydrochloric acid.

At the same time, the outflow of enzymes from the pancreas does not stop, which ensures the creation of favorable conditions for the rapid digestion of food. If the patient has diarrhea, Omeprazole simultaneously eliminates it.

To calculate the daily therapeutic dosage, the therapist and pediatrician must take into account the fact that the active substance is easily absorbed by the cells of the intestinal and gastric mucosa.

Against the background of such exposure, an unpredictable overdose is allowed due to inexperience.

This phenomenon is explained by the fact that after taking the medication, the patient's condition may improve with an ulcer after 72 hours from the start of therapy.

If the visible effect of treatment with Omeprazole is not observed in the first 24-48 hours, the daily dosage is increased. This condition is fulfilled on the recommendation of a doctor.

With an independent decision to increase the dosage of the drug, functional constipation can be provoked, reducing the peptic performance of the PT.

Omeprazole is excreted in the urine - about 60% in a modified form and in the feces - up to 15% in its original form. The remaining components of the drug are metabolized in the liver and transformed into salts and various acids.

Basic principles of therapy

The medication in question finds its main application as an antacid agent when carrying out complex therapy in the following cases:

  • reflux esophagitis;
  • different degrees of the course of peptic ulcer disease;
  • bulbitis of acute and chronic form;
  • some types of gastritis;
  • duodenitis of various shapes;
  • cancerous processes at different stages;
  • diaphragmatic hernia of the alimentary opening.

Other indications for taking this drug include various conditions that occur with high production and the release of hydrochloric acid into the esophagus.

A similar phenomenon is observed after surgery, in the period after an acute intestinal infection, before surgery in the stomach and duodenum.

More often, Omeprazole is included in the scheme of long-term therapy for gastrinoma - a cystic-type tumor that stimulates the production of high concentration of hydrochloric acid.

Cancer cells need this environment to grow and multiply quickly. If you do not have a therapeutic effect on these processes, oncology can develop in the shortest possible time.

Experienced doctors and scientists consider it a reasonable indication for refusing to take Omeprazole in combination with NSAIDs. This condition is observed for arthrosis, arthritis, polyarthritis deformans, PS spondylosis.

Ibuprofen, Ortofen and Aspirin, which belong to the pharmacological group of NSAIDs, can provoke, in combination with Omeprazole, an "aspirin ulcer" of the stomach and duodenum.

Approximate schemes for taking medication

If the patient has an acute ulcer, then Omeprazole is taken at a dosage of 60 mg every evening. The drug must be taken with water. This therapy is carried out for 2 months.

For ulcers, supportive therapy is indicated. In this case, Omeprazole is taken at a dosage of 20 mg in the morning for 2 weeks, with a 1 month break.

If the patient has gastritis with high acidity, as well as to suppress the functions of gastrinoma, the drug in question is shown to be taken at a dosage of 30 mg.

The drug is drunk in the morning and in the evening until the symptoms are completely eliminated. At the same time, therapists and gastroenterologists note that the minimum course of treatment is 10 days.

To eliminate heartburn triggered by GH, the medication is shown at a dosage of 20 mg. It is drunk immediately after an attack. Repeated administration of Omeprazole is allowed if the patient has a relapse of all reflux symptoms.

If laboratory tests reveal a helicobacter in the patient, then Omeprazole is taken 4 weeks every day at a dosage of 40 mg, twice a day.

Against the background of the above-described therapy, side reactions associated with disturbed daily dosing may occur. If the medication is taken by persons prone to low stomach acidity, atrophy may develop.

During the period of gestation, the active substance easily disrupts the process of intrauterine development of the gastrointestinal tract in the fetus.

Other side effects of the medication include:

  • diarrhea;
  • constipation;
  • rumbling after eating;
  • bloated belly;
  • mild nausea;
  • dizziness during the first days of therapy.

Scientists have proven clinically that the above-described adverse reactions of the drug quickly disappear if it is canceled or the doctor reduces its daily dosage.

If the patient has an individual intolerance, it is recommended to replace the Omeprazole capsules with another drug immediately after the manifestation of the above-described adverse reactions.
