Plastic surgery on the nose Plastic surgery on the nose, to be more precise, rhinoplasty( from ancient Greek - rhinos, which means - nose and from ancient Greek - plastike, which means sculpting, shaping) - this correction of deformities of the nose both congenital and acquired, as well as restoring the absent nose. The history of the appearance and development of rhinoplasty is more than 2, 5 thousand years.

Currently, such plastic surgery is one of the most popular procedures in cosmetology. They are the most difficult to perform among plastic surgery, but at the same time they are creative. The first operation to correct the nose was carried out in India by the Indian doctor Sushruta. Since then he is called the father of plastic surgery. In those days in India and other countries, for some violations of the law rather chastely punished. A person was cut off from any part of the body, such as an arm or nose. For the first time it was Sushruta who tried to restore his nose using the patient's own tissues. He took a flap of tissue from the forehead and grew in the region of the nose. Until now, this technique of rhinoplasty has not changed much.

Gradually, doctors tried to improve the technique, so they searched for and developed other methods of nose plasty. In the late 19th century, John Orlando Rowe proposed intranasal, that is, "through the nose."

Now these operations on the nose are carried out under general anesthesia, and under local anesthesia in combination with light sedation. During sedation, the patient inhales the soothing gas( a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide) through a special mask. The type of anesthesia is determined by the doctor in agreement with the patient, as everything depends on the volume of the forthcoming operation. As we have already said, the method is called intranasal, that is, all incisions are performed inside the nasal cavity, which results in the absence of scars in the visible places of the face. There are times when a cut in the columella area is needed - a fold of the skin that separates the nostrils from each other, but then they are completely invisible.

The fundamental principle of rhinoplasty is the separation of soft tissues in the nasal cavity from bone and cartilaginous structures, then the nose shape is adjusted. In individual cases, it becomes necessary to transfer part of the cartilage to increase the strength of the nasal structure, to improve the respiratory and other functions of the nose, as well as to improve the shape of the tip of the nose.

In some cases, a synthetic implant is used, but in the course of time this can cause a complication in the form of displacement and extrusion of the artificial material into the soft tissues of the nose, resulting in a change in the shape of the nose. Therefore, surgeons prefer to use cartilaginous ear tissue or even ribs.

The operation aimed at correcting the shape of the nasal septum is called septoplasty. The reasons for it are related not only to the cosmetic purpose, but also to the therapeutic, for the treatment of chronic diseases of the nasopharynx and in the paranasal sinuses.

As you can see, no matter what the cause of the deformation of the shape of the nose and septums: whether it is nature or the trauma that has been suffered, thanks to rhinoplasty, you can always restore the correct proportions.

It should be borne in mind that in the postoperative period different factors will influence the course of healing. You should always know that you are not a sculpture made of stone, you are a living organism. Do not wait for a miraculous transformation without the hassle. Be prepared for a certain discomfort and be patient. And most importantly, decide for yourself, what are you waiting for from rhinoplasty and say everything in detail with your doctor.

As already mentioned, rhinoplasty is one of the creative operations. Here you need the intuition of the surgeon, you need to imagine that in the end it will turn out after healing, see whether or not the person will go. Have a good vision: do more or less less. The surgeon must have a great intuition that comes with experience. In this regard, in rhinoplasty often have to do repeated operations. And with repeated operations there is a risk of increasing distortion, it is more difficult to predict how the bones of the nose behave during the healing process. On the x-ray you can see only the bones, and the cartilages are not visible, they are foreseen. Therefore, it is very difficult to foresee the operation itself, as it will pass. The doctor must be able to quickly navigate and make the right decision. The surgeon must have a long practice in rhinoplasty.

Operations to change the shape of the nose do after the body completely passes the period of development and formation. For girls this is the age after fifteen years, and the boys even later. It is clear that this is due to the fact that further development of the body can affect the shape and change the desired appearance.

As with any surgical intervention, a full medical examination of the patient is mandatory before the rhinoplasty surgery. It all begins with classical analyzes of urine, blood, electrocardiograms and, of course, necessarily radiography of the nose and paranasal sinuses. The surgeon will take your photo before the operation, then to compare the original look with the result obtained. At survey the doctor will write down and will consider at carrying out of operation all features of your organism. Therefore, do not forget to report allergic reactions to any medications, if such a phenomenon happened, what medications you take. And from bad habits, too, will have to abstain before the operation. This prevents the healing process of the wound.

The operating procedure, depending on the volume and complexity, averages a couple of hours. Plastic surgery, as a rule, is carried out on an outpatient basis. In principle, after waiting for the postoperative period for several hours, there is no need to be in the clinic. At the request of the patient, he can safely go home.
