On sale you can also find a spray with a similar composition Nitrofungin Neo. It is distinguished from drops by a more convenient form of release.

The price for the solution is 320 rubles. in Russia and 52 gr. in Ukraine, the cost of the spray is 380 rubles. and 98 gr. respectively.

Operating principle

Chloronitrophenol - the active substance of Nitrofungin, has a fungicidal and fungistatic effect. The drug inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol in mycelium cells. This chemical component is necessary for the growth and development of microorganisms, therefore, its deficiency deprives the fungi of proper protection, as a result of which their death occurs.

Additionally, Nitrofungin has a symptomatic effect, successfully eliminating itching, burning, inflammatory changes and other signs of pathology in the focus of infection. Chloronitrophenol is not absorbed into the general bloodstream, working exclusively locally. Thanks to this, the drug does not cause systemic side effects and is recognized as safe for the body.

Indications

Nitrofungin in the form of a solution and spray is prescribed under the following conditions:

  • nail fungus;
  • mycosis of the foot;
  • lichen;
  • candidiasis of the skin;
  • prevention of secondary infections (streptococcus, staphylococcus, etc.).
Nail fungus, versicolor

Due to the lack of absorption of the drug by the epithelium, Nitrofungin can be used to treat fungal pathologies of the external auditory canal.

Instructions for use for onychomycosis

Before using the solution, you should wash your hands and feet, remove the remnants of decorative manicure from the nail plates and remove possible contamination. Preliminary steaming of the hands or feet in a bath with the addition of softening components - soda, sea salt or liquid tar soap will improve the effect of the drug. After the procedure, the limbs are thoroughly dried, and the nails are filed and cut along the edge, trying to remove as much of the tissue affected by the infection as possible.

A solution of Nitrofungin is applied to clean plates up to 3 times a day, leaving the drug until completely absorbed. The recommended course of treatment is 1-2 months, but you can continue it until healthy nails grow back. The first symptoms of improvement will be noticeable as early as 3 weeks of use.

Application of the tool

After the disappearance of the signs of the disease, it is advisable to use the drug for another 14 days to exclude its recurrence. During and after treatment, it is important to adhere to the rules of prevention, avoiding wearing uncomfortable shoes, contact of feet with household surfaces in public places, etc.

Effectiveness with neglected nail fungus

Nitrofungin is a drug that, according to the instructions for use, works exclusively in the lesion. Therefore, with advanced onychomycosis, when infectious agents penetrate the body and have a systemic effect, this remedy will not help. In this case, it is used as an auxiliary medication for the external treatment of foci of onychomycosis, and the disease itself is treated with oral antimycotics.

Contraindications, side effects

Nitrofungin is not recommended for use in the following conditions:

  • pregnancy, breastfeeding;
  • individual hypersensitivity to individual components of the drug;
  • children's age up to two years.

In most cases, Nitrofungin is well tolerated by patients. Sometimes, undesirable effects such as burning and redness in the treatment area may develop, which is associated with an overdose of the drug or the presence of an allergy to it. If such symptoms appear, it is recommended to additionally consult a doctor.

Use for children, pregnant women, lactating

Nitrofungin is not indicated for use in children under the age of two. The same restriction applies to women who are carrying a pregnancy or breastfeeding a baby.

What should you pay attention to?

The result, given by Nitrofungin, occurs 14 days after the start of its use. The patient may notice that the nail plates have acquired a healthier appearance and have stopped crumbling. Despite the positive aspects, it is important to pay attention to the features of using the drug:

  • If there is redness on the skin, most likely we are talking about a reaction to individual components of the product. In this case, dilute the solution of Nitrofungin with water in equal proportions and try again to treat the focus of onychomycosis. If hyperemia reappears, it is better to refuse the medication.
  • When the disease is in an advanced form, it is necessary to consult a doctor and choose a comprehensive treatment regimen, which is based on systemic antifungal drugs.
  • Each time before using Nitrofungin, the nail plates and the skin of the feet should be prepared using hot foot baths. Steaming helps to remove dead nail particles and improve the absorption of medicinal substances by it, which allows you to speed up the treatment process.
  • If after 14 days of using Nitrofungin according to the instructions for use of visible positive dynamics to recovery is not observed, you need to stop treatment with medication and consult a doctor for additional consultation.
  • The nail plates treated with the drug should not be exposed to sunlight, as you may encounter such complications as hyperpigmentation.

Analogues and their prices

It has the same composition, and with good tolerance of chloronitrophenol, it is used according to the same principle for onychomycosis. But if the active ingredient is intolerant, Nitrofungin can be replaced with other antifungal analogues listed in the table.

Reviews

Anastasia, 28 years old. “I treated the nail fungus with Nitrofungin on the recommendation of a doctor. Strictly followed the instructions. Approximately on the fifth day of application, the itching disappeared and recovery processes became noticeable. In total, the course took me 5 weeks and three bottles of the product. Now I am using the drug for prophylaxis. "

Maria, 29 years old. “Nitrofungin was used for onychomycosis. The solution is very good - it eliminates unpleasant symptoms of the disease literally in a matter of days, which is important. The drug coped with the infection itself in 6 weeks. There were no relapses. "

Katerina, 25 years old. “An affordable and effective solution of Nitrofungin was advised by a doctor after the detection of nail fungus. After 2 weeks, the spots disappeared and the plates began to grow at full strength. There were no adverse reactions. Thanks to the medicine, I now have strong and healthy nails to be proud of. "

According to the listed positive reviews, Nitrofungin is indeed a successful antifungal agent. But it is advisable to consult a doctor about the possibility of its use. Sometimes self-medication is ineffective, and local antimycotics are an insufficient measure for onychomycosis. Only a specialist can select the correct therapy regimen.
