How is the falloprosthesis performed and what is the prognosis of the operation?
Falloprosthesis is a surgical operation to introduce artificial implants into the penis, which allows replacing a normal erection and conducting a full sexual intercourse.
The problem of impotence in men nowadays is becoming more urgent. Alas, the sad statistics tell us that by the age of 40, about 20% of the male population of Russia suffer from sexual weakness. And by seventy years, the percentage of men unable to conduct a full sexual intercourse is already increasing to 50. Unfortunately, even at the age of 20 to 40 years, 10% of men report certain disorders of potency and erection.

Indications for phalloprosthesis
Absolute indications for surgery are:
- Consequences of surgical operations on the penis, rectum, prostate and bladder.
- Vascular erectile dysfunction that can not be medicated.
- Impotence in Peyronie's disease.
- Impotence in severe diabetes mellitus.
- Congenital dysfunction and( or) maldevelopment of the penis. Atrophy of the penis.
- Fibrotic lesions of the cavities of the penis.
- Psychogenic impotence with ineffectiveness of its treatment by other methods.
In all cases, the active position of the patient and his desire to go to surgery are needed.
There are following types of treatment for sexual weakness:
- psychotherapy( sometimes enough one conversation to restore masculine abilities);
- medicinal tableted therapy( effect on vascular influx and outflow of blood to the penis, allowing to achieve a permanent erection);
- injection of drugs into the penis;
- application of vacuum pumps( see Local pressure-negative pressure therapy( LOD-therapy));
- physiotherapy, massage, magnetotherapy;
- penile replacement.
Of all the above, only the falloprosthesis is a radical method, which allows to achieve complete cure for impotence. All the others give only a temporary symptomatic effect.
Preparation for operation
The patient needs:
- Complete a complete examination to exclude diseases such as tuberculosis, cancer, venereal diseases, cardiovascular pathologies in the decompensation stage.
- Completely make sure that other treatments for erectile dysfunction do not help.
- Get psychological training. Realize that prosthetic implants remain for life, they can not be recovered and restore natural cavernous bodies.
Because the operation is performed under general anesthesia, it is impossible to drink and eat in the morning before it. The maximum allowed time for dinner on the eve should be clarified by the attending physician.
Methods and types of prosthetics
The following types of prostheses are distinguished, which are introduced into spaces of cavernous bodies:
- Rigid model consisting of two rods, usually made of silicone, but without the so-called plastic memory. They were used at the dawn of prosthetics. Their advantages are simplicity and cheapness. The disadvantage is the constant tension of the penis. The shape of the penis can not be "adjusted" manually. Creating a lot of inconveniences in the everyday and psychological terms, they are more dangerous postoperative complications.
- Plastic semi-rigid models with memory. They contain additional wire bundles, providing a predetermined arrangement of the penis. A man independently leads the penis into a "combat" state and, after completing the sexual act, lowers it. The main disadvantage of this method is that the penis remains permanently stiff.
- Hydraulic two-and three-component falloprotezy with attached thereto a pump pumped liquid and descends. Implants are implanted in the cavernous bodies, and the pump is installed in the scrotum. The man activates the pump by pressing in a certain place, and the penis rises because of the fluid expanding the implant. After the end of sexual contact, you should press elsewhere, and the fluid comes back, and the penis goes down. The method maximally approximates the sexual act to the physiological one. The partner may not notice the consequences of the operation.
After the operation, the patient is in the hospital for about 10 days. Return to sexual life can be in six months.
Contraindications and possible complications
Operation contraindicated in:
- priapism( Pathologically long erections);
- genitourinary tract infection;
- severe concomitant diseases.
Falloprosthetics, like any surgical operation, requires careful compliance with all necessary measures in the postoperative period. A strict bed rest for two days is prescribed. Antibiotics are used to suppress postoperative inflammation and prevent infection. In the first 7-10 days after implantation, significant soreness and edema of the penis are possible. This is a normal condition, for the relief of the pain syndrome prescribed by conventional analgesics.
If the patient's body temperature rises, intense pain lasts more than two weeks, there is a risk of implant rejection. This condition requires re-operation and cleaning. In a remote period, incorrectly selected prostheses can squeeze the glans penis and cause its necrosis. Therefore, if the man after the onset of sexual activity with a prosthesis feels pain and numbness in the genital organs, it should always consult a doctor.
forecast
In general, penile prosthesis allows you to restore sexual life to almost doomed patients. Already two months after the operation, sexual contacts are resolved. Constant monitoring of the doctor is not required. In men, the sensitivity of the genitals is maintained, while the independent control of the duration of the sexual act adds the possibility of complete satisfaction to the partner.
