Symptoms, a disease of leprosy

Quick Facts.
Recently, the incidence has significantly decreased, but still in the tropics this danger is still very high. The first places in the number of patients are occupied by Brazil, Nepal, India, Burma, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, the countries of the western part of the Pacific Ocean. In these countries, a high incidence was observed in the 60s-80s, but in 1991 it was reduced.
People with a low standard of living or with weakened immunity are at risk. You can get sick at any age, but children under the age of 10 are especially vulnerable to infection. In addition, men are sick more often than women. The disease of leprosy is transmitted mainly by airborne droplets, and there should be a very long close contact with the patient.
Important: Doctors are not exposed to infection!
Today, only 5 - 7 of the population of love do not have immunological protection against such a danger! To date, this attack has affected 15 million people on the planet.

Mycobacterium leprae( Hansen's bacillus), which cause leprosy, were discovered in 1874 by the Norwegian scientist G. Hansen. These microorganisms are similar to the causative agents of tuberculosis, but can not reproduce in a nutrient medium and for a long time do not express themselves.

Reasons.
To activate the infection existing in the body, a secondary bacterial infection, malnutrition, contaminated water, a low standard of living can occur.

Symptoms and Illness.
What are the symptoms waiting for the patient, the leprosy disease has a fairly large list. The incubation period can last from 6 months to several decades, with various painful manifestations being rare. These include: fever, malaise, weakness, drowsiness, chilliness, paresthesia, loss of appetite. Joint pain, sweating can occur.
The primary signs of the disease are a variety of pigmented spots.
The whole picture of the disease unfolds not often.

There are two types of diseases:
1. Lepromatous affects mainly the skin:
• Extensive all kinds of skin lesions, while suffering mainly face, ears, elbows, wrists and buttocks;
• Drop of eyebrows;
• Later, facial features are distorted, earlobes grow, nasal bleeding develops, breathing becomes difficult;
• Laryngitis, hoarseness and keratitis occur;
• In men, the reproductive system suffers.
Bacteria can be found in the liver, bone marrow and spleen!
2. Tuberculoid( identified and described in 1898 by Yadasson) affects mainly the peripheral nervous system:
• The appearance of a clear spot that increases in size over time;
• Disappearance of hair and sweat glands on the affected area;
• Thickening of nerves near the affected area;
• Atrophy of the muscles;
• Neurotrophic ulcers are formed on the soles;
• Contamination of hands and feet;
• Over time, brushes and feet suffer. There is an ulcer of the cornea, leading to blindness.
3. The border form can grow into any of the listed forms depending on various conditions.

Description.
This dangerous disease initially "eats" its victim from within, and then comes out. The bones, the brain, the ligaments( the strength of the arms and legs are lost!).
Each type of disease is divided into several stages:
• Progressive;
• Stationary;
• Regressing;
• Rezidal.
Important: In the initial period this cunning disease can be masked for eczema, toxicermy, pink lichen, various kinds of mycosis and other.
For accurate diagnosis it is necessary to have skin samples, also an expensive but very effective PCR method is used.

Treatment.
Earlier, haulmic oil was used, but today, for example, sulfamine agents are used. Modern drugs stop the infection and strengthen immunity.
The use of sulfamine agents is called etiotropic therapy( the main drug is dapsone).Rifampicin is an effective medicine, but expensive, because in developing countries it is used in small doses. Sparfloxacin is also used.
These funds should be taken at a rate of 24 months.
An easy form of the disease can be eliminated in 2 - 3 years, and a heavy form - for 7 - 8 years.
Important: Some forms of the disease have been found that are resistant to sulfamine components, so other drugs are added to the drug data.
Research is being conducted to invent new anti-leprosy drugs. Such remedies should reduce the duration of treatment and reduce the severity of symptoms.

What does the Bible say?
This problem can rightly be called the ulcer sent by the Lord God. Leprosy is a disease in which sufferers were removed far from everyone around them and their homes. If the patients were healed, the priests witnessed this fact, sprinkling such people and washing their clothes and body, cutting their hair, making sacrifices, carrying out various rituals. To prevent the disease, it was forbidden to eat fat, blood and other foods that could provoke the problem.
For the sick there were allocated special dwellings at the church, in which it was possible to farm.
