Treatment of gastric ulcer

Various diseases of the stomach are increasingly affecting people of different ages around the world, forcing them to abandon their convenient and habitual diet, favorite foods. Among the many diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, one of the most serious diseases is isolated: a stomach ulcer, or a peptic ulcer.

At the moment, a set of measures for the treatment of stomach ulcers includes the taking of medications and compliance with a special diet. The effectiveness of the therapy directly depends on the attitude of the patient to his own health, because apart from the periodic intake of medicines, the patient must carefully monitor the diet of his food.

Diet

In case of peptic ulcer, it is absolutely necessary to stop using any alcohol and smoking. Also, you should abandon foods that irritate the gastric mucosa. In many cases, if there is an exacerbation of the ulcer, patients are prescribed a diet number 1 according to Pevzner. This diet is also good for preventive purposes.

Antibacterial treatment of

In addition to diet, with peptic ulcer, complex eradication therapy is carried out. This method consists in taking anti-Helicobacter pylori. Admission is carried out until the pathogens are completely destroyed. To date, this method is the most effective, since the positive effect of taking is very fast, and the probability of occurrence of relapse is minimal.

Antibacterial drugs are treated in two stages, with three types of drugs used.

The first type of medicines include antihistamines that inhibit the secretion of gastric juice( Ranitidine). Also on this list are proton pump inhibitors( omeprazole, rabeprazole, lansoprazole), which maintain gastric acidity at a high level.

The second type of antiulcer drugs is antibacterial agents that are effective against Helicobacter pylori( Amoxicillin, Metronidazole, Tetracycline, Clarithromycin). The drugs start to work at high pH levels of gastric juice. Therefore, a positive effect of treatment is observed only when the combination of drugs from the first and second group.

In the list of the third type of drugs - gastroprotectors. These include bismuth subcitrate and other drugs that contain bismuth.

In the first stage of treatment, ulcers are prescribed a drug complex consisting of proton pump inhibitors, Metronidazole and Clarithromycin. Course - a week. The dosage is determined by a specialist. Some drugs can be replaced by analogues from the same group.

In half the cases with treatment at the first stage, there are side effects: nausea, skin rashes, allergic reactions, diarrhea, dysbiosis. The most acute, as a rule, the body reacts to tetracycline.

At the first stage of antibacterial treatment it is possible to eradicate pathogens in 90-95 cases out of 100.

The second stage is necessary in the absence of a positive effect in the first stage. Treatment involves taking inhibitors of the proton pump, metronidazole, bismuth subcitrate and tetracycline. Course - two weeks. Typically, the body does not tolerate such treatment and patients have a large number of side effects.

To accelerate the recovery process, auxiliary substances are shown: vitamins, sea buckthorn oil, steroid anabolic, aloe extract and diamond, which prevents gastric juice irritation. The latter drug is often used by patients on their own during periods of relapse, but its use for positive treatment is not enough.

Surgical method

This method is used very rarely, only in extreme cases, when the peptic ulcer is neglected or the patient has serious complications( bleeding, stomach cancer, perforation of the ulcer). This method removes the affected area of the stomach. Therefore, in order to avoid surgical intervention, if complaints arise, you should immediately consult a doctor and strictly follow all his recommendations.
