Shoulder ligament rupture
Shoulder ligament rupture is a trauma to the system of bone joints, when ligaments in the shoulder joint are damaged. This joint consists of a junction of the clavicle, shoulder blade and shoulder bone. This joint is kept intact by the joint bag and the muscles that are adjacent to the joint, as well as the ligaments and tendons.
When the shoulder ligaments are broken, joint destabilization begins, pathological movements and development of the dislocation occur. In addition, there is bursitis - inflammation of the bag of the joint, i.e. The nerves in the brachial plexus are affected.
Types of gaps
Among them are:
- rotator cuff of the shoulder, consisting of the scapular tendons, round small, subacute and supraspinous muscles. They are all connected to the joint capsule and make the joint movable and integral;
- tendons tend to break the brachial muscle( biceps) of the short and long heads.
The degree of damage depends:
- the ligament is broken completely, followed by damage to all fibers and a break in half;
- ligament is broken partially with damage to a portion of the fibers. This condition is called stretching the ligament.
Etiology of the process:
- traumatism that occurs sharply with a rupture of ligaments - several or one, with trauma( falling with an elongated arm);
- with the wear of muscle tendons is the natural aging of the human body, i.e.(Degenerative).Pathology is in the state of maturing for many years, mainly - the right hand for the right-hander, left - for the left-hander.
Symptoms of rupture of the shoulder ligament
Suspension occurs if:
- appears in the shoulder pain, more often in the upper lateral region;
- pains appear in a calm position and with some movements;
- movements of the shoulder joint are limited, inability to lift and lead to the side;
- weakness in the shoulder region;
- the shoulder joint swells, increases in size;
- bruises and bruises;
- shoulder is deformed;
- when you are injured or moving, you hear a crunch and crack;
- numbness, tingling in the shoulder.
Treatment of brachial ligaments at the rupture of
So, the diagnosis is made and the treatment begins. It consists of such components:
- from cryotherapy - use of cold compress from ice on the first day. It must be remembered that cold exposure can not be used for more than twenty minutes, so that frostbite does not occur;
- from rest - beware of loads on the joint, to reduce pain and inflammation. To ensure fixation. Apply an orthopedic splint that should be fixed for several weeks;
- is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug from a broad group of drugs that is often used to relieve pain during ligament rupture in the locomotor apparatus. Prescribe ketorolac, naproxen, ibuprofen and other tablets, as well as external means;
- surgical operation - is often done by athletes to fully restore muscle strength and mobility of the shoulder.
Another operation is done when the conservative method of treatment is ineffective, when there are repeated discontinuities and pain continues.
The purpose of the operation is to restore the integrity of the ruptured ligaments by the method of periosteal sutures.
When choosing the method of procedure, preference is given to arthroscopic surgery, which opens access to this joint only by applying two small incisions. This surgical intervention is less traumatic, less painful, does not require a long stay in a hospital and shortens the period of rehabilitation.
Occasionally, various synthetic materials are introduced into the interosseous region to ensure a smooth glide between all tissues. In this case, the pain sensation is much reduced.
Physiotherapy is prescribed during the rehabilitation period to compensate for muscular strength, mobility of the limb of the shoulder joint. These exercises need to be done systematically and for a fairly long time - several months.
Purpose of injections. With severe pain, injections are prescribed( local anesthetics, for example, novocaine and hormonal drugs, for example, hydrocortisone) into the articular region. Thanks to this, an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect is achieved.
The use of physiotherapy involves warming compresses, water-massage procedures - all this in a complex accelerates the rehabilitation process.
If the treatment is matched correctly, the restorative process of the shoulder joint ligaments lasts approximately two to three months.
