Scoliosis of the thoracic spine

Unfortunately, such a disease of the spine as a scoliosis, occurs today so often that many patients who are ill, whether it is an early stage or an easy form, do not consider it serious. Despite the fact that the curvature on the spine from the side does not make itself felt at once, but can manifest itself by such symptoms as fatigue on walking or prolonged sitting, pain in the back, legs and chest.

If scoliosis is established in the thoracic spine, this means that this section is curved, but visually curvature is not visible( abdominal displacement and upward movement of shoulder blades and shoulders).

What is the danger of scoliosis in the thoracic spine? Twisting gradually, the spinal column displaces and begins to squeeze out many organs connected with each other with their movements. Of course, this bias has a negative effect on the thoracic part of the spine, thereby worsening the system of breathing, heart and blood vessels.

Classification of this disease

This disease is classified according to the following characteristics:

  • the cause or source of occurrence is acquired or congenital;
  • severity of the disease;
  • current clinic activity - progress it or not;
  • the attitude to the side is right-sided or left-handed;
  • in chronology, i.e.by age of patients - adult, adolescent, child, infant.

Kyphoscoliosis in the thoracic spine

A single disease that is associated with scoliosis is called kyphoscoliosis, i.e.a violation of posture.

This connection of vertebral curvature from right to left( the scoliosis and stoop of the thoracic region - kyphosis).The disease, in the case of congenitality, can occur with parallel changes in internal organs. If this disease is acquired, then doctors study the causes of its occurrence - whether there is progress in the disease or not, whether it affects the functions of the organs located inside. Therefore, before the start of treatment, X-rays and sometimes also tomography are performed.

Treatment of scoliosis

Certainly, than this disease is found out earlier, and accordingly earlier have begun treatment, the there is more than hope of a positive result. It all depends on what the result is obtained from the initial examination, and the purpose of individual complex treatment depends on it. When all the features of the disease and its stage are taken into account, therapeutic health procedures are prescribed.

Usually the treatment includes 3 stages:

  • first actively act on the curvature;
  • then includes the process of correcting the curvature;
  • in the final stage finally fix the correct position of the thoracic region.

It is believed that the final stage is the most difficult, and many of the patients do not pay much attention to it, which results in the resumption of this disease. Not having strengthened to the extremity or end dorsal muscles, not trained by special, picked up by the doctor, exercises, you can not get rid of this problem. In addition to gymnastics, scoliosis can be well influenced by therapeutic massage, swimming, and posture correction.

Exercises for scoliosis of the thoracic region

1 exercise: the starting position - sit on a low chair, but to ensure that its back was reliable. Put your hands in the lock on the back of the head, bend the thoracic section backwards - on the inhalation the deflection, on exhalation the inclination. Repeat approximately 5 times.

2 exercise: the starting position - lie on the floor, under the chest, place the roller( 10 cm in diameter).Put your hands behind your head and squeeze your back into the breath, lift only the top of the body to exhale. Repeat 5 times.

3 exercise: the starting position - and sitting and lying down. Wrap the bottom section of the thorax with a towel, pulling it down on yourself while inhaling, relaxing the tension on a slow exhalation. Repeat approximately 10-11 times.

4 exercise: the starting position - sitting or standing, legs apart. Straighten your arms above your head, with your right hand grasp the wrist of your left. Lean to the left as far as possible, gently pull your right arm so that you feel the lateral muscles. Do the same and change the side. Repeat up to 10 times.

Exercises today are very much developed, and these are only the most effective. But if you feel pain in the thoracic spine, exercises alone will not be enough - it is better to be examined by a good doctor, so as not to trigger the course of this unpleasant disease.
