The treatment of gastric cardia failure

click fraud protection

Many people suffering from a lack of cardia stomach, do not even know what it is.

This disease refers to the pathologies of the motor function of the gastrointestinal tract.

Since there is no occurrence of tumors and inflammation, the incompetence of the cardia of the stomach is considered a functional disease.

Often at an early stage, a sick person ignores symptoms or begins to treat themselves, which can lead to a chronic degree of disease and the occurrence of more dangerous pathologies.

Cardia of the stomach is a ring shaped sphincter located between the esophagus and the stomach. In normal condition it is closed.

During the meal, muscles are unclenched, and food passes from the esophagus to the stomach. To prevent the reverse process, cardia also serves.

In the stomach contains a medium with high acidity, and in the esophagus is predominantly neutral.

Therefore, ingestion of gastric juice and corrosive enzymes into the esophagus can damage its walls and cause the appearance of burns and ulcers.

Bile in the esophagus

If you do not perform the correct and timely treatment, then it is possible the formation of malignant tumors.

Actually, failure of the cardia is a disruption of the sphincter, in which the contents of the stomach can enter the esophagus.

Depending on the size of the slit in the sphincter in the usual state, three degrees of the disease are distinguished:

  • 1st degree( the size does not exceed 1/3 of the cardia diameter in the fully open state);
  • 2nd degree( the size is half or more in diameter);
  • 3rd degree( muscles practically do not function, inflammation of the esophagus walls is observed).

To get the stomach contents into the esophagus, a lot of pressure is required - about 70 millimeters of mercury.

This condition is achieved with increased gas production due to overeating and fermentation of undigested food surplus.

Thus, improper diet, as well as a sedentary lifestyle, overweight, lack of physical activity and violation of posture are the main reasons for the formation of cardiac failure.

In this state, the normal functioning and arrangement of many internal organs is disrupted, which is a favorable condition for the development of the disease.

Another factor may be bad habits, such as smoking or frequent use of alcohol.

The disease can also occur for organic reasons. For example, the hernia changes the gastroesophageal esophageal angle, the diaphragm ceases to fix the sphincter, and all conditions for its improper functioning appear.

Stomach

Another cause of gastric cardiac insufficiency is certain diseases of the digestive system, for example, chronic pancreatitis or gastritis.

Sensation and diagnosis

Symptoms of deficiency are similar to those of other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, therefore, in no case can you make your own diagnosis and begin treatment.

Be sure to consult a gastroenterologist for a detailed examination and proper prophylaxis.

The main symptoms of the disease are constant attacks of heartburn, including even without food, frequent belching of the air, attacks of nausea, regurgitation of stomach contents.

If this is repeated often enough, the person who has become ill already needs to go to the doctor's office to check for a cardiac failure.

There are other symptoms: discomfort in the stomach( there is a feeling of overcrowding), pain, weakness, apathy, rumbling in the stomach.

With the advanced stage of gastric cardia failure, esophagitis develops, that is, inflammation of the mucous membranes.

Its symptoms are the occurrence of a plaque in a white tongue, dizziness, weakness, constant rumbling in the stomach, heartburn( especially immediately after a meal or in a horizontal position).

Sometimes patients complain of chest pain and swallowing( in this case, urgent treatment is required because of the development of cicatricial narrowing of the esophagus).

Anatomy of the digestive system

A physician who observes such symptoms is required to prescribe an x-ray examination of the digestive system.

If it is necessary to examine the esophagus, then use a long rigid or flexible tube with lightguides or a video camera at the end - an esophagoscope.

Accordingly, this examination is called esophagoscopy. It allows to observe a complete picture of changes in the mucosa of the esophagus and the gastroesophageal valve.

The esophagoscope is administered to the patient through the oral cavity.

In most cases, the examination is performed under general anesthesia, sometimes using local anesthesia.

Thanks to esophagoscopy, the doctor finds out whether these symptoms were signs of a failure of the cardia of the stomach, learns the reasons for its appearance, can prescribe the right treatment and prescribe the necessary drugs.

pH-metry( measurement of acidity in the entire gastrointestinal tract) may also be prescribed.

For its implementation, there are contraindications, for example, an aortic aneurysm or a severe degree of coronary insufficiency.

With an increased level of acidity in the esophagus, the doctor is almost always able to correctly diagnose reflux( ingestion of the contents of the stomach into the esophagus).

Medical and folk methods for convalescence

To properly treat the incompetence of the cardia of the stomach, the doctor should first of all find out the reasons for its appearance.

For example, if a disease is caused by a hernia, then the only correct treatment is a surgical operation.

In the case of other diseases of the digestive system, it is necessary to treat not the insufficiency of the cardia of the stomach, namely these diseases.

Doctors recommend:

  • to lead a lively lifestyle, walk every day;
  • to engage in physical education, it is obligatory to perform exercises for the muscles of the press;
  • try not to allow the formation of excess weight;
  • not wear tight clothes, try not to wear pants or skirts with tight belts;
  • completely abandon smoking and drinking;
  • observe proper nutrition.

If the doctor wants to conduct the proper treatment for failure, then a strict diet is a must. Eat often, in small portions.

Diet in case of deficiency includes a complete rejection of spicy and fatty foods, citrus, coffee, chocolate, carbonated drinks.

It is not recommended to eat before going to bed, you need at least 1.5 hours for proper digestion.

A doctor may prescribe certain medications to prevent heartburn( Smekta, Almagel).

Still there are a number of medicines to improve the work of the cardia of the stomach - parkinetics. They can reduce the likelihood of reflux.

It is also possible to treat failure with folk remedies.

You can cure the disease in such ways:

  1. before eating you need to drink half a cup of broth from the root of marsh aura;
  2. dandelion flowers are covered with sugar and grinded.5 milliliters of the resulting syrup should be stirred in half a glass of water and a drink;
  3. a good treatment is also obtained by using a cumin broth( a teaspoon to insist in a glass of boiling water);
  4. before eating, it is recommended to drink about 15 milliliters of plantain juice obtained by squeezing out fresh leaves.

Since the failure of the cardia of the stomach does not occur on its own, but is a consequence of other diseases( hernia, gastritis, obesity), it is necessary to treat these diseases in the first place.
