Halotherapy Very often the most common means help us in the fight against various diseases. But many people prefer expensive pharmacy products, rather than folk medicine. And in vain. After all, many of them are very effective in coping with various diseases. For example, ordinary salt. It can cure bronchitis, allergies, bronchial asthma, neurosis, psoriasis, neurodermatitis and some other diseases.

Salt treatment is carried out in special rooms, the so-called salt rooms. They are also called halochambers or salt caves. However, salt can also be used at home, for example, for the treatment of a common cold, throat disorders.

How did the halotherapy of

start? Halotherapy was born a long time ago. However, in those days it was not a whole science or a panacea for diseases. People just descended into salt caves and breathed there with special air. The air in such caves is filled with useful elements, which have a beneficial effect on the physical and mental state of a person. Salt aerosol particles and light ions are contained in the air of salt caves. It should be noted that in these places there are no any allergens or microbes.

A useful effect on the body of salt caves began to be thought when people working in them were miraculously healed from certain diseases. When doctors began to study in more detail the effect of salt caves on the body, they began to artificially create such places in blades.

The basis of halotherapy is speleotherapy. From Greek "speleo" is translated as a cave, and "therapy" is a treatment. To use this method in practice, scientists took more than 10 years. During this time, studies and observations were conducted, in which people with various diseases participated. At the moment, such treatment is provided at many world resorts, which are located near the mines and grottoes. Good salt caves are in the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Belarus.

In the Transcarpathian region in Ukraine in the village of Solotvino in 1976 a unique salt hospital under the ground was created. The hospital is designed for more than 200 people. In 1985, scientists tried to recreate artificially similar conditions and created a halochamber. In this chamber the microclimate of salt caves is artificially recreated.

In 1988, a halogenator was created, a dry aerosol generator. It is necessary in order to increase the dispersion of aerosol and maintain the required composition. Over time, the preparation "Aerogalit" was created. To prepare such a preparation, use natural salt. Thanks to this drug you can completely recreate the atmosphere, which is identical to the atmosphere of the salt cave. Modern halogenators allow maintaining a stable concentration of therapeutic substances.

To date, halotherapy has been recognized as a medicine and is used in many clinics, sanatoriums, rehabilitation centers, sports and children's institutions, as well as in boarding houses. However, this halotherapy can be performed only in salt caves or places that are equipped with halogenators, which are equipped with sensors that show the concentration of therapeutic substances and are able to dispense aerosol. Today you can find places where there are only rooms with salt walls, but without a halogenator. Such rooms are more intended for the treatment of a person's psychoemotional state.

What to expect from halotherapy?

To achieve maximum results from treatment, halotherapy should be taken by courses. Unfortunately, one session will not be enough to cure diseases. However, after a course of procedures a person feels better, the body tone rises, the immune system rises and so on. The main effects of halotherapy are:

  • bronchodilator( the bronchi are enlarged and sputum is excreted);
  • is an anti-inflammatory;
  • mucolytic( diluted and excreted sputum);
  • has a beneficial effect on the skin and respiratory tract;
  • improvement of sleep, strengthening of the nervous system, stress relief;
  • strengthening of immunity.

The advantage of halotherapy is that it can be combined with other treatments. For example, with physiotherapy exercises, acupuncture, phytotherapy, massage, bioresonance therapy, aerosol use, and the like. It is very important during halotherapy sessions to create the right atmosphere in which a person could relax and get rid of negative thoughts.

When is halotherapy prescribed?

Doctors recommend halotherapy for both medical and preventive purposes. Halotherapy is useful for the prevention of upper respiratory tract diseases, for strengthening the immune system, and for the prevention of allergies. For therapeutic purposes, halotherapy is prescribed for:

  • diseases of the upper respiratory tract( bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, obstructive bronchitis, COPD, and so on);
  • diseases of the nose and throat( rhinitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, sinusitis, allergies and the like);
  • frequent colds and viral diseases;
  • weak immunity;
  • circular alopecia;
  • hypertension of the first and second degree;
  • neuroses and vegetative-vascular dystonia;
  • skin diseases( allergic dermatitis, neurodermatitis, psoriasis and the like);
  • acne and pustules;
  • hypersecretion of the sebaceous glands.

The halocamper is very useful to visit people who smoke or work on specialties that pollute the lungs. Those people who regularly visit the halochamber are less likely to develop pulmonary and bronchial pathologies, such as COPD.

As a rule, a session in the halochamber lasts about an hour for adults. Children there are recommended to stay no more than half an hour. The number of sessions for each is different. Someone will have 10 sessions, and someone may need 25 sessions. People who have chronic diseases should undergo treatment in halochambers twice a year - in the spring and in the autumn. Thanks to this, there will be an improvement in well-being and a decrease in the number of medications taken. Some people are cured after regular visits to the halochamber.

Who is contraindicated in halochambers?

No matter how healthy it is for a halo chamber to be visited, doctors do not advise them to visit people who suffer from:

  • with acute infectious diseases;
  • mental disorders, alcoholism or drug addiction;
  • with malignant tumors;
  • frequent bleeding and blood clotting problems;
  • tuberculosis;
  • during pregnancy and lactation;
  • in the presence of venereal infections;
  • for individual intolerance to aerosol with salt particles.

If the chronic disease is in an aggravation stage, then the halotherapy procedure must be canceled. You do not have to be sick to attend such procedures. Healthy people will also benefit from it. With the help of halotherapy, you can increase muscle tone, get rid of irritability and fatigue, relieve stress, normalize sleep and much more.

However, when choosing a clinic where halotherapy is performed, you need to be careful. Read the reviews first and find out how the experts work there.
