Is separate food useful?

click fraud protection

Separate food - a lot of noise from nothing or is there something in it? For almost a hundred years, doctors and nutritionists can not agree: harmful, useful or neutral separate food. According to some, the protein content in food improves the processing of carbohydrates. Others argue that mixed nutrition activates different types of enzymes and occurs, to put it mildly, irritated in the digestive tract.

Separate power theory

Separate nutrition is a food in which certain food components are not miscible with others, for example proteins with carbohydrates. There is an objection: this is impossible, because everything in nature is closely intermixed, and proteins with carbohydrates are present in almost all products. Is this a separate food? In nature, everything is balanced and therefore any natural product, having proteins and carbohydrates in its composition, does not have a destructive effect on the body. But let's start in order.

Separate food is called a food system, where a person deliberately avoids mixing "poorly-combined" food components, for example, products containing predominantly proteins, with products containing predominantly carbohydrates.

The basis of the modern theory of separate nutrition appeared more than a century ago. Her "father" and the main popularizer can rightly be considered Herbert Shelton. The basis of the theory was the basis of the physiology of human digestion, including the work of the famous Russian scientist IP Pavlov. Pavlov was the first to prove that certain enzymes are required to digest various food components( proteins, fats, carbohydrates).For example, for the splitting of protein, the body produces and uses enzymes, in which acids predominate, and enzymes that contain more alkaline components serve to break down carbohydrates.

Shelton believed that for better assimilation of food, separate reception of certain types of products is necessary, which he classified into 5 groups:

  1. Protein products;
  2. Carbohydrate-containing foods;
  3. Fats;
  4. Sour fruits and vegetables;
  5. Nekrakhamistye and green vegetables.
The system for combining these product groups is the classical theory of separate power supply.

Principles of Separate Nutrition

What happens if you do not follow the rules of separate power supply? According to Shelton, the use of uncombined products leads to an inevitable deterioration in the quality of digestion of food, which provokes the processes of putrefaction and fermentation. The products of decay( slags and toxins), formed in this case, are absorbed into the blood, certainly poisoning the body. In the end, this provokes the emergence of various diseases.

In addition to the basic postulate, Shelton recommended adhering to the following dietary rules:

  1. Do not eat when you are not hungry;
  2. Never eat with pain, mental or physical ailment;
  3. Never eat during, just before or after a serious physical or mental activity;
  4. Do not drink while eating;
  5. Thoroughly chew and form a so-called food lump, diligently impregnating it with saliva.

Medicine for Separate Nutrition

Official medicine does not recognize therapeutic action and the need for separate nutrition. Opponents of this theory give various arguments in defense of their views:

1. In nature, there are practically no products consisting of only one food component. For example, many foods rich in carbohydrates also contain a sufficient amount of protein. Therefore, separate food is false at the root.

2. The pancreas secretes the necessary food enzymes simultaneously, which allows digesting protein and carbohydrate foods. The enzymatic composition of the juice is ideally balanced in order to digest the desired food components.

3. In the course of evolution, a person learned to grow food and cook more sophisticated dishes. The more complex the composition and preparation of the dish, the more nutritious and tasty it turned out. Each nation has its own national cuisine, in which only recipes from mixed products are available. As a result, food habits have generated an enzymatic adaptation, which is designed to improve the digestion of food, characteristic of human diets.

4. Medicine at that time had only a part of the opportunities and knowledge available to today's specialists. Since Herbert Shelton did not have medical education and the opportunity to study in detail the processes of digestion, from which it can be concluded that Shelton was superficially familiar with gastroenterology in general. Accordingly, all of his statements can be considered no more than a theory.

Official medicine recognized the theory of separate nutrition Shelton scientifically unjustified. However, such a nutrition system can really help some patients: since the consumption of monotonous products contributes to the reduction of the eaten portion, which has a positive effect on weight loss.

Nutritionists note that the effect obtained from the use of separate food may not be associated with the compatibility of products. Since other recommendations in the literature on separate nutrition do not contradict the generally accepted norms of a healthy lifestyle( for example, to consume more fruits and vegetables, to refuse refined and unnatural foods, to reduce the total daily diet, exercise, etc.), an integrated approach in this food systemAnd determines its health-improving effect.

From personal experience

When I started to practice separate food, at first it was very wonderful and not usual, and most importantly, I could not really eat. I consumed about 2 weeks more than usual. Over time, everything stabilized. About a month later, I noticed that I started eating 2 times less than when I ate mixed, but at the same time I began to receive much more energy.

The most surprising thing was that I was living in a hostel where for two years there was a regular flu epidemic, at that time I was eating separately and the epidemic did not touch me, although I was in close contact with the sick.

Here are the positive conclusions that I made from my experience of separate food:

  • Less food intake.
  • Reduction of congestive manifestations and flatulence in the intestine.
  • Increase the amount of energy.
  • Strengthening immunity.

I noticed no negative effects of separate power supply. However, if you can not refuse poisons in the form of pilaf and salad olivier, then separate food is not for you.
