Arachnophobia pictures Arachnophobia or, as it is also called fear of spiders, against the background of all other phobic fears for others is the most understandable. Arachnophobia is a panic fear of absolutely any spider, and uncontrolled fear is caused not only by exotic large specimens, but also by miniature house spiders, which are very common in almost any room. In some cases, panic fear can cause not only the living insect seen in reality, but also its photograph or picture. Studies have shown that about 30% of women and about 20% of men suffer from arachnophobia to some extent.

Arachnophobia - the causes of

Many psychologists give an arachnophobia explanation: the more significant an object or animal is from a person, the stronger and more pronounced is the fear of the unknown. However, even this fact is not a full explanation of the reason for the development of fear of spiders, since in the surrounding animal world there is a large number of life forms that differ much from a person, but they become much less frequent in phobias.

Some experts suggest that a significant role in the development of fear of spiders is played by their almost always sudden occurrence in front of a person. These insects sometimes literally appear under the nose, coming down from somewhere above the cobweb, leading with such a sudden appearance, subject to arachnophobia of people into a stupor or a shock state. Often the cause for fear is the unpredictable behavior of an insect, which seems very unnatural in relation to the size of its torso.

In addition, we can not help mentioning the huge number of horror films and thrillers that have filled our screens, the main characters of which are hunters of incredible spider sizes.

Biologists have proven that spiders are a very ancient species of creatures that are already several million years old, and throughout this period no significant changes in their development were found and in prehistoric times they were not at all bigger or more dangerous. In this regard, there is absolutely no basis for the assertion that today there can be a giant ancestor of spiders, with a deadly bite for a person.

Arachnophobia - symptoms and manifestations of

If you carefully observe the behavior of a person suffering from arachnophobia, you can see that it is learned. And this is simply explained. The origins of this phobia are deep in the subconscious, having been there since early childhood, when the child absolutely in everything tries to imitate the people around him, and especially the parents. And if among them there are people suffering from arachnophobia, avoiding the approach of spiders and considering them dangerous - there is an increased likelihood that in the future the child will also develop this phobia.

Symptoms of arachnophobia are as follows: weakness, rapid pulse, panic, increased palpitations. A person tries to be as far from the object of his panic fear.

Arachnophobia - treatment of

The principle of treating arachnophobia is based on the use of various modern techniques, with the preferred conduct of behavioral confrontational therapy. The principle of this treatment is based on the direct connection of the patient with the cause of his fear, in this case the spider. The patient in a mild form is offered to communicate with the insect causing his fear, his examination. Most often after this, the patient becomes so bold that even begins to touch the horror of the subject of his fear. This is the most important moment when a person realizes that there is absolutely nothing terrible in this. However, if the patient still avoids communicating with the cause of his fear, the phobia is further strengthened and intensified.

Many people who have won arachnophobia begin to keep spiders at home, which doctors call hyper-compensation of fear.
