Neurodermatitis: treatment, symptoms

Neurodermatitis or atopic dermatosis is a cutaneous kind of inflammatory disease, often of a chronic form. It has a neurogenic-allergic origin and is characterized by the appearance on the skin of papular eruptions and the presence of severe itching.
As for the factors that cause this disease, they are endogenous in nature, that is, first of all, violations related to the work of internal organs, the normal functioning of the nervous system and, of course, disturbances in the metabolism. This can be attributed with complete certainty and the presence of harmful factors from our environment. So, neurodermatitis: treating the symptoms, more details in our story.

Symptomatology and causation of this disease

Symptoms of neurodermatitis have the following character:

  • the presence of persistent and intense itching, which appeared against a background of all kinds of neurotic disorders;
  • occurrence of insomnia, asthenia, bouts of depression or increased excitability, emotional lability;
  • appearance of various disorders in various body systems, such as neuro-vegetative, violation of the process of sweating and sebum secretion, violation of thermoregulation and some reflexes;
  • occurrence of disorders of the nervous system, having a secondary nature and as a consequence, complication of the process of the disease course;
  • occurrence of violations of the adrenal glands, gonads and thyroid gland;

Constant itching, sleep disturbances and many other symptoms lead to stressors in the patient's body, and they in turn are the cause of disruption of the functions and work of the adrenal cortex and sometimes lead to their depletion. The adrenal glands, when in this state, cease to release a normal amount of corticosteroid hormones, and since these hormones have the anti-inflammatory properties that are so necessary during the course of the disease by the neurodermatitis, due to their lack, the inflammatory process intensifies. This gives an impetus to the intensification of allergic reactions in the form of pathological manifestations on the skin.
Speaking about the causality of neurodermatitis, it is primarily a predisposition of the body and a hereditary factor. More often than all neurodermatitis those people who in the childhood have transferred eczema, a serious form of a diathesis are ill. The reason can be as the reaction of the body the use of any medications, prolonged use of antibiotics or reaction to some food products. Especial danger is neurodermatitis for people already having diseases of allergic genesis - it is urticaria, bronchial asthma, vasomotor rhinitis.
Neurodermatitis is often presented in two forms diffuse and limited. Diffuse neurodermatitis is characterized by an inflammation of the focal skin that occurs most often on the neck, face, popliteal cavities and ulnar folds, and can also damage the inner thighs and genitals. Foci are externally represented by epidermo-dermal papules, the skin here is dry.covered with scales. Often there are cracks. The winter process of exacerbation is typical.
With regard to limited neurodermatitis, this form is characterized by the presence of severe itching, which occurs in the night or evening period and brings a lot of suffering and suffering to the patient. The favorite places for the appearance of this form of neurodermatitis are the surfaces of folds of large joints, the inner thighs, the skin near the anus and the genital area, as well as the lateral and posterior surfaces of the neck. The initial stage has no special changes, but the lack of timely treatment leads to the formation of dense papules with scales. Over time, the foci acquire a clearly defined shape in the form of circles and ovals with pale pink or brownish-red flowers.

Methods of treatment of neurodermatitis

Treatment of a long-term neurodermatitis, depending on many factors, such as the stage on which the disease is located, its shape and the complications that have arisen. Symptoms and treatment of this disease are related. After all, from the correct study by the dermatologist or infectious disease doctor of the symptoms and diagnostic tests carried out, the proper administration of the required treatment will depend.
First of all, sedatives are prescribed, up to the time of psychotherapy sessions. Further, the administration of corticosteroid hormones in certain doses is prescribed. To restore the disturbances that have arisen in the central nervous system, a course of treatment with tranquilizers such as afobazole, aminazine, etc. is necessary. An essential part of the treatment, in order to reduce the sensibilization of the body, is the use of antihistamines that perfectly remove the itching, it can be diprazine, suprastin, dimedrol. It is also necessary to connect vitamins of group A, PP, B. Effective procedures for neurodermatitis are hydrogen sulphide baths, radon baths with decoctions of herbs such as chamomile, calendula, oak bark, string.
Affected areas of the skin should be constantly lubricated with greasy creams, preferably containing olive oil. And for therapeutic purposes, ointments containing corticosteroid hormones should be used: fluorocort, sinalar, fluencar.
A prerequisite for the treatment of neurodermatitis is adherence to a strict diet that completely excludes the use of sharp, fried and smoked foods, and to limit the consumption of salt and alcoholic beverages. It is necessary to limit to a minimum the contact with household, medicinal and food allergens. In order to rehabilitate and improve the process of remission, it is recommended to visit the resorts in the summer, preferably located on the southern coast of the Crimea.
