Causes of demodectic dysfunction

Demodectic is a disease accompanied by the defeat of the upper parts of the skin with a microscopic tick. The name of the tick is Demodex folliculorum. This tick is a permanent inhabitant of the skin of most people and feeds on dead skin cells. The size of the mite is from 0.25 to 0.6 mm. The habitat of the mite is the channels of the meibomian and sebaceous glands, as well as the mouth of the hair follicles. However, the human body only needs to weaken its defense a little, as the mite begins to penetrate deeper layers of the skin, thus causing demodecosis.

By the nature of manifestation of demodicosis has much in common with acne. It is not uncommon for cases in which a combination of these diseases occurs.

The onset of demodectic development can occur at any age. Most often the disease manifests itself in youth and adolescence, as well as after severe emotional stress and pregnancy. As a rule, acne vulgarises on the skin are written off to ordinary acne, which, according to a large number of "advisors," will pass themselves with the time of puberty.

But, alas, there is no spontaneous cure for demodectic infection. Usually, the disease slowly moves from one section of the skin to the other, thereby creating quite specific inconveniences for women and men. Extruding acne demodecosis also does not lead to anything good, because it only helps to move the mite to unaffected skin areas.

In case of demodicosis, redness and flaking of the skin often occur. Also, lesions of skin areas can be accompanied by a fairly strong itch, which in its nature can be either permanent, or appear after washing with cold water or skin tonics.

Causes of demodicosis.

For a long period of time, it was thought that the causes of demodectic infection are in the subcutaneous mite. However, recently a fairly common case is the detection of a tick in perfectly healthy people, which led scientists to believe that the tick is not a cause but a consequence of the disease. The disease itself occurs due to changes in the skin.

According to another theory, the causes of demodicosis are contained in the bacterium that causes the disease with gastritis( Helicobacter pylory).

Do not confuse demodicosis with rosacea, the cause of which are some medications, including corticosteroid ointments, which are highly not recommended to apply to the face.

Symptoms and manifestations of demodectic disease.

Itching, swelling, eye fatigue, hyperemia of the eyelid edges, manifestation of scales at the root of the eyelashes and other elements allow detecting demodicosis even with visual examination. For a century affected by the disease, characterized by the following features: stitched cilia, plaque along the edges, eyelashes themselves are surrounded by crusts in the form of couplings. Studies conducted in the laboratory are extremely simple and do not require specialized training of doctors and high-tech equipment. The study is conducted directly in the office in the presence of the patient.

Technique of laboratory examination.

With each eye, you need to take eight cilia: four from the lower eyelid and four from the upper eyelid. Cilia are placed on a slide in a mixture of 9 ml of saline and 1 ml of glycerin. The resulting structure is covered with a cover slip and viewed under a microscope, which enables efficient and operative diagnosis.

Demodectic eye.

The causes of the appearance of the disease of eye demodicosis are enclosed in a tick known to us. In this case, it is not located on the surface of the skin and the ducts of the sebaceous glands, but on the ciliary follicles of the eyelids.

With this disease, the cavities of the hair follicles of the eyelids become stretched, there is hyperkeratosis and hyperplasia, which can eventually lead to an easy chronic perifolikulitis.

Eye demodicosis can occur in combination with demodicosis of other skin areas, also in isolation. The effect of the parasite on the cornea, conjunctiva and other skin of the eye is alergic-toxic. The function of meibomian glands is disrupted, and the level of the lipid layer of the tear film decreases, which can lead to a dry eye syndrome, at which trophic disturbances of the surface of the corneal layers occur, leading to a decrease in its sensitivity level.
