Clinical manifestations of personality disorders

Each person is characterized by characteristic for him models of perception, in other words personality traits associated with events and other people. For example, one person reacts to difficult situations, constantly asking someone for help, another prefers to deal with difficulties on their own. Regardless of their own style of response, people with a healthy psyche will look for an alternative solution if their first approach proves ineffective. People with the personality disorder are persistent violations in their thoughts, actions and feelings. If personality disorder interferes with a person's daily life, he needs qualified psychological help. In psychiatry, the following basic personality disorders are distinguished, each of which has its own clinical manifestations.

Manifestations of paranoid personality disorder:

  • reluctance to trust others because of fear that information will be directed against it;

  • a hostile attitude towards others, an inability to forgive offenses;

Clinical manifestations of schizoid personality disorder:

Manifestations of a schizotypal personality disorder:

Manifestations of antisocial personality disorder:

  • impulsiveness of actions;
  • rationalistic explanation of their actions;
  • a tendency to deceive;
  • inability to plan;
  • aggression and irritability;
  • ignoring the security of both your own and others;
  • irresponsible attitude to personal duties.

Clinical manifestations of borderline personality disorder:

  • desperate attempts to "escape" from loneliness;
  • unstable relationships with people, ranging from extreme idealization to extreme negative evaluation;
  • self-esteem violation;
  • impulsiveness in actions related to potential risk( illegibility in sexual relations, waste of money, non-observance of traffic rules);
  • predisposition to autoaggression, up to suicide attempts;
  • irritability, anxiety, short temper.

Clinical manifestations of hysterical personality disorder:

  • a feeling of discomfort if the patient is not the object of attention;
  • inappropriate manifestation of the desire to be sexually attractive;
  • superficiality of emotional experiences;
  • theatricality of emotions.

Manifestations of narcissistic personality disorder:

  • exaggeration of one's own talents and achievements;
  • preoccupation with fantasies about beauty, success, power or ideal love;
  • the desire to use others to achieve personal goals;
  • lack of sympathy for others;
  • envy, as well as the conviction that others envy the patient.

Clinical manifestations of avoidant personality disorder:

  • avoiding contact and restraint in sexual relations due to fear of criticism, ridicule or discontent;
  • is convinced of the lack of personal charm, the superiority of other people.

Manifestations of Dependent Personality Disorder:

  • the difficulty in making your own decisions;
  • the need for people who are able to take responsibility for the patient;
  • difficulties in expressing refusal or disagreement;
  • lack of self-confidence, in its capabilities.

Manifestations of obsessive-compulsive personality disorder:

  • employment to the extent that there is no time left for rest and friendly communication;
  • excessive scrupulousness, conscientiousness;
  • inability to "part" with unnecessary and old things;
  • avarice;
  • stubbornness.
