Calculous pancreatitis
Calculous pancreatitis characterized by the deposition inPancreas tissue calcium salts. This is based on a violation of the chemical composition of the gland juice, which leads to the formation of concrements( stones) in the region of the excretory duct. The composition of these stones is more often carbonic and phosphoric acid lime. Their size, as a rule, is small, they can look like sand of a greyish-white hue. The density of such concretes is relatively small, their structure is often porous.
Most often this disease is diagnosed among people over 50 years of age, women among them are more common.
The development of calculous pancreatitis can be associated with cholelithiasis or hepatitis.
In this case, among the concomitant diseases, ulcerative disease of the duodenal ulcer, connective tissue and vascular diseases are often found.
Symptoms
Clinical manifestations of calculous pancreatitis largely depend on the course of the process( acute or chronic), and also on the localization of stones in the gland itself. If the stones are located in the body of the pancreas, the pain can be felt in the middle part of the abdomen, in the region of the body - in the right, and when the stones are localized in the tail of the gland the pain is felt in the left hypochondrium. If the stones hit all of the gland, then the pain takes a girdling character.
Also with this disease the character of the chair changes, most often constipations are observed. In this case, the stool itself can have a mushy consistence with the presence of undigested food residues. Can be frothy, have an unpleasant smell.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis of calculous pancreatitis is based on both clinical data and the results of other studies:
- Laboratory data. In the blood test, there is an increased content of amylase, and its level can be high in urine( but less often).
- X-ray examination. This study allows you to see one or more small concrements.
- Ultrasound examination. Here you can determine the width of the gland duct, as well as the presence or absence of stones in it. Endoscopic retrograde pancreatography.
- .It is used infrequently in cases where other methods of research do not provide an opportunity to accurately diagnose.
Treatment
Treatment of calculous pancreatitis should be prescribed by a physician and depend on the severity of the disease. In this case, attention is drawn to the presence of symptoms of exocrine and intrasecretory insufficiency. If there are such, then conduct a substitution therapy.
Sanatorium treatment may be recommended, but not during an exacerbation of the disease.
Folk remedies
Traditional medicine recipes can be used only with the agreement of a doctor and not in an aggravation stage. Natural medicines can be helpful in the treatment of uncomplicated pancreatitis. For example, the following medicinal formulations can be used:
- juice of fresh carrots and potatoes;
- infusion of the herb of St. John's wort, chamomile flowers, mint leaves, wormwood and yarrow;
- tincture from walnut.
Operation
The procedure is the most effective treatment for calculous pancreatitis. The main goal of surgical treatment is to create conditions for the outflow of juice from the gland into the gastrointestinal tract. Depending on the extent of the lesion of the gland and its ducts, the following operations can be performed:
- transduodenal papillosfinkterotomy with drainage of the gland duct;
- anastomosis between the gland duct and the jejunum loop;
- resection of the distal part of the gland and suturing it into the jejunum;
- Pancreas resection( subtotal pancreatectomy) is performed in the case of extensive organ damage and the death of most of the gland cells.
Diet
All varieties of pancreatitis require compliance with certain rules in the diet, calculous is no exception. First, you need to exclude from the diet all fried foods. Secondly, it is necessary to eat in small fractions and in small portions. Food should not be too hot, not very cold.
From the allowed products, it can be noted low-fat varieties of meat, fish and poultry. It is also possible to use low-fat cottage cheese( fresh or cooking casseroles from it).Dishes should be cooked steamed or cooked. Vegetables in the period of exacerbation are allowed to eat in baked form( for example, apples).Of drinks the most useful will be jelly, broth of dogrose and herbal tea.
Forecast
Forecast for calculous pancreatitis, doctors often give adverse. This is due to the fact that it often degenerates into a malignant form. Also, with this disease, the patients' ability to work is markedly limited, in some cases, a group of disability can be assigned.
