Dental prosthetics and restoration

Dental practice is the oldest branch of medicine, in which surgery is the most important section. The purpose of surgical dentistry is surgical intervention in case of anomalies in the development of the dentoalveolar apparatus. The main work of surgeons is tooth extractionthat cannot be saved with other dental techniques.
Prerequisites for contacting a surgeon
From birth, a person may develop defects in the maxillofacial region. The tooth can take the wrong direction after eruption and be displaced in any direction relative to the dentition. The next anomaly is the appearance of a tilt angle different from its counterparts. All this causes inconvenience when eating food and is fraught with injuries to soft tissues. Unerupted teeth get stuck in the gums and must be removed if discomfort occurs. To correct the situation, it is often necessary to open soft tissues to access the tooth with further suture.
The tasks of the surgeons include the elimination of neoplasms of various etiologies, the elimination of foci of inflammation in the maxillofacial region, the preparation of conditions for the implantation of implants.
Teeth that do not respond to treatment must be removed immediately, as they pose a threat to human health. The constant feeling of discomfort and pain in the patient, the condition of the tooth give grounds for referring the patient for an X-ray examination. Based on the results of the image, a decision is made: to try to save the tooth or to remove it.
In the case when there is no alternative to tooth extraction, options for surgical intervention are possible based on the structure of the tooth.
Extraction types
The tactics of extracting a tooth is based on viewing an X-ray showing the growth:
- single-root,
- multi-root.
In accordance with the clinical situation, an adequate method of anesthesia and a set of special instruments are selected.
The procedure for removing a single-rooted tooth is simple. Initially, local anesthesia is administered, taking into account the patient's tolerance to individual drugs. With the onset of the analgesic effect, the diseased tooth is loosened with forceps. After separation of the root from the gum bone, the tooth is removed from the socket. The wound is treated with a disinfectant solution, after which, until final healing, the patient must follow the doctor's instructions for postoperative care.
Surgical operation to remove a multi-rooted tooth requires a jeweler's skill, since the roots, which can number up to four, can have a complex configuration. The operation sometimes takes up to 2 hours, since a phased extraction of tooth fragments is possible. After the procedure, a week of rehabilitation is required.
The indications for extraction are also:
- the presence of dystopia,
- deviations from the natural location,
- neglected periodontitis.
The effectiveness of dental surgeons has been tested by many citizens. The main message is getting rid of unbearable pain and the source of infection. The rest of the issues of restoring the former functionality are solved by other specialized dentistry specialists.
