Kefir for diarrhea

At home, it is possible to treat diarrhea with kefir. Kefir for diarrhea balances the intestinal microflora, therefore it is considered an excellent solution. The drink tastes sour when fresh. This is due to 22 types of lactic acid bacteria of fungi contained in the drink. In addition, kefir contains micro and macro chemicals that are beneficial to health. The drink should be bought fresh, otherwise the patient's condition will only worsen. The beneficial prebiotic normalizes body functions. You need to consume the drink no more than three days from the date of manufacture, then lactic acid bacteria cease to multiply in the liquid. It is forbidden to drink kefir with an expired shelf life!

Bowel disorder

The drink perfectly removes toxins and restores the intestinal epithelium. For an accelerated result, kefir must be consumed daily, but only after a spicy diarrhea, in which a strict diet is recommended - the product taken can speed up the digestive tract and worsen condition. Kefir is used to treat chronic and acute diarrhea. The first division assumes disorders within three weeks, the second ends earlier. Also divided by the state of feces:

  • Hypokinetic. Puffy or watery stools with an unpleasant odor. The source is the low speed of food advance.
  • Hypersecretory. Loose and copious stools. The source is the increased ingestion of salts and water into the intestines.
  • Hyperkinetic. Porridge-like, but not profuse stools. The source is the accelerated digestion of food.
  • Hyperexudative. Watery but not profuse stools, with possible blood and mucus. The source is the liquid trapped in the lumen of the inflamed intestine.
  • Osmolar. Copious fatty stools with elements of undigested food. The source is the decreased absorption of salts and water by the intestines.

Kefir was invented in the Caucasus, it turned out to be difficult to find out the secret of the drink's production, the highlanders defended the recipe. Only in 1906, in Karachai, Russian scientists achieved the right to receive the long-awaited recipe. In Russia, kefir was first produced in St. Petersburg, and in the 30s of the 20th century, conveyor production was established.

A course of treatment

Not all cases of diarrhea in an adult are treated with kefir, only if they appear for the following reasons:

  • Disturbance in intestinal motility.
  • Pathologies: enteroviruses, intestinal toxicoinfection, salmonellosis and cholera. These infections form toxins in the intestines.
  • Taking anti-cancer drugs and antibiotics.
  • Neuropsychic direction, causing irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Diseases of an autoimmune nature: ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease.
  • Heredity. Poor tolerance or complete idiosyncrasy of certain products.
  • Genetic pathologies: liver cirrhosis, celiac disease, lactose deficiency, persistent and acute pancreatitis.

Stool with blood in the stool is considered a dangerous symptom. A peculiar indication of serious diseases:

  • diverticulitis;
  • hypodynamia;
  • hemorrhoids and anal fissures;
  • cancers in the rectum;
  • internal bleeding;
  • chronic diseases in the form of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
Ulcerative colitis

Ulcerative colitis

For a child, the harm from an upset stomach will lead to severe dehydration, even death as a result. The causes of diarrhea in a child are mostly harmless. Allergies, acclimatization and unusual eating habits, overeating, taking medications. In other cases, infections are considered the culprits: amoebic dysentery, bacterial dysentery and salmonellosis.

You cannot drink kefir without restrictions. Excessive consumption will not benefit or harm your health. A number of rules will help establish the most beneficial course of treatment:

  1. From the first day of the onset of diarrhea symptoms, kefir will irritate the intestines even more. It is better to start the course from the second day, only in the absence of complications such as vomiting and high fever.
  2. The most effective will be a product prepared at home.
  3. Two glasses a day, in the morning on an empty stomach and in the evening, for two weeks.
  4. You need to drink a fermented milk drink no more than two weeks.

Treatment exclusively by drinking a fermented milk drink will not give a complete result. Diarrhea can come back again and again. Additional rules must be adhered to:

  1. Diet. Do not eat fatty meats, eggs in any form, hot spices, milk, radishes, cabbage, cucumbers and soda. Recommended products: lean meat and fish, bread, porridge on the water, pilaf, broth and pasta.
  2. Limit physical activity. Diarrhea results in dehydration, and increased physical activity will increase fluid loss in the body.Diarrhea in humans
  3. Enhanced hygiene. Frequent hand washing, brushing teeth, washing vegetables and fruits.
  4. Calm psychological state.
  5. An effective remedy for diarrhea is blueberry jelly.

Contraindications

You should not take kefir:

  • Lactose intolerance. More often this happens when an adult patient has consumed fermented milk products to a minimum during his entire life. In this case, experts strictly prohibit the use of fermented milk products. It is permissible to replace with pharmacy probiotics.
  • Gastrointestinal problems with high acidity. Better to opt for low-fat yogurt.
  • Infant. It is better not to give kefir to a child under the age of one year, casein protein intolerance is often found. It is possible to replace it with either pharmacy products or fermented milk products specialized for children.
  • Chronic diarrhea. The use of kefir will only cause an increase in loose stools.

In other cases, after kefir, the intestines normalize, but you should carefully monitor the expiration date. If, after using the urge to use the toilet, it is more frequent, it is better to postpone self-medication for a couple of days.

Other dairy products

Kefir differs from other fermented milk products in acidity and fat content, as well as in consistency and composition. Lactose, depending on the fat content of the drink, is responsible for the performance of the intestines and the saturation with bifidobacteria. But during diarrhea, they are treated not only with kefir, for example, another fermented milk product.

Fresh cottage cheese and dishes made from it will help to fix the chair for an adult. For example, a curd casserole without additives: sour cream or raisins. It is easily digestible and includes beneficial bacteria. It is allowed to eat curd products from the moment of the onset of difficulties with the intestines, they do not harm the mucous membrane.

Many types of cheese are also recommended for diarrhea. The product is not inferior in useful properties to kefir and cottage cheese. Moreover, if there is a lack of calcium in the body, cheese replenishes it well.

Unlike diarrhea, fermented baked milk is extremely fatty, so it should be consumed only after an illness, as a remedy. A high content of bifidobacteria will quickly bring the intestines back to normal.

It is better to abstain from whole milk. Lactose is poorly absorbed with age, which will cause complications in case of poisoning. Milk will play a cruel joke, on the contrary, contributing to the multiplication of many bacteria. Drinking milk is possible only on the fourth day after the onset of the disease.

In addition, fermented milk products should be added to food alternately and in small dosages, preferably as a snack.

Diarrhea is a complex and painful symptom. Should not be tolerated, especially in children. At the first sign, see your healthcare professional.
