Can appendicitis go away on its own: probability and advice

In medical practice, most of the surgical operations performed in the abdomen are associated with the removal of the inflamed appendix of the cecum. But is it always necessary to cut? Can appendicitis go away on its own?

The disease is associated with purulent inflammation of the appendix. As a rule, the course of the disease occurs in an acute form. There are many causes of inflammation:

  • Parasites.
  • Infection.
  • Fecal stone in the aisle.
  • Mechanical trauma to the abdomen.

Both a child and an adult can become a patient of the hospital. The main category at risk is children and adolescents.

Appendicitis occurs in four stages, gradually passing from one form to another:

  • Catarrhal. Characterizes the development of the disease within six hours from the appearance of the first signs. Edema of the appendix occurs sluggishly, the increase is small, separate purulent foci.
  • Superficial.
  • Phlegmonous. The next stage of the disease, located between 6 and 24 hours of development. A visible increase in the location of the appendix appears. Pus collects here. More than 90 percent of patients are recorded with the phlegmonous stage of the disease.
  • Gangrenous. From the first day and over the next three days, there is an increase in the lesions of purulent processes. On the tissues of closely spaced internal organs, necrosis is observed. The inflammatory process extends to the entire peritoneum.
Appendix in the human body

The first form is mild and can be treated with medication. The latter form occurs on the fourth day without treatment. During this period, the tissues of the intestine and peritoneum, located next to the appendix, die off, a symptom of body intoxication appears. Depending on the body's resistance, the catarrhal form of the disease turns into gangrenous in a matter of hours due to the excessive accumulation of pathogenic microorganisms inside. In this case, the patient does not have time to wait, he needs an ambulance and surgical intervention.

Appendicitis is divided into acute and chronic. The duration of the chronic type is months and years.

The development of the disease

In acute appendicitis, the appendix is removed. A visit to a hospital with symptoms indicating the development of the disease does not occur immediately.

It is worth warning about the consequences of the lack of adequate treatment:

  • It takes from 10 to 12 hours, from the moment the first signs appeared, the inflammation covered the entire appendix.
  • After 1-2 days, there is a violation of the integrity of the appendix membrane. The disease turns into a disease called peritonitis.

Small foci of purulent inflammation appear near nearby organs - this is an easy scenario for the development of events. Otherwise, the insides of the abdominal cavity die off, sepsis develops, and the patient dies. Also, the disease develops in another unpleasant variant - pylephlebitis. The complication affects a vein passing through the liver, as a result of which the organ is infected, liver dysfunction occurs. At the first appearance of a symptom of appendicitis, immediately go to the hospital and for a consultation.

Medical statistics indicate only 20% of patients seeking treatment who were able to avoid the operating table.

Solution without surgery

Medical statistics speaks of the possibility of removing the inflammatory process without surgery, when the ailment has passed on its own. The appendix cannot withstand the pressure from the inside and ruptures, everything that is in it enters the canal of the small intestine. The patient feels uncomfortable in the intestinal tract and diarrhea. After 3-4 days, the body returns to normal, the internal breakthrough is delayed on its own. This phenomenon is observed in older people. After a certain number of days, a person goes to see a doctor, with a slight swelling, the belly in the lower part is enlarged due to a tumor.

A third of patients are unaware of the inflammation of the appendix in their body.

Diagnostics and self-diagnostics

Avoiding appendicitis and all accompanying symptoms is quite possible. To do this, you need to follow certain rules and try not to break them:

  • Observe the diet and quality of the diet.
  • Sport.
  • The menu contains healthy dishes.
  • Frequent visits to the hospital for a complete examination and treatment.

The doctor recommends to undergo examination and consultation at least twice within 12 months.

The habit of eating quickly, on the run, without chewing, leads to appendicitis.

Food on the go

This is where you can develop new eating habits:

  • You need to chew food thoroughly and for a long time.
  • Swallowing should also be leisurely and slow.

When a large piece of food enters the digestive tract, the body is unable to dissolve it. As a result, this piece enters the lumen of the appendix and blocks the exit from the appendix, thereby provoking inflammation.

Chewing food thoroughly becomes a good habit not only for adults, but also for children. Compliance with food intake also contributes to the normalization of processes inside the body:

  • Breakfast starts from 6 am to 8 am. Depending on the ascent time.
  • Lunch takes place at 12 or 1 pm.
  • Dinner is served until seven in the evening.

Snacks are not a substitute for a full meal, but they become excellent sources of vitamins and coarse fiber: apples, carrots, avocados, cucumbers, tomatoes, legumes, cabbage.

Vegetables as sources of vitamins

The task of coarse fiber includes training the digestive system, restoring the normal movement of food through the intestinal tract by increasing the motor activity of the organ. The channels are cleared of undigested food accumulations.

The following types of foods should be removed from the diet:

  • Fried foods and foods containing fat.
  • Smoked, salty, spicy dishes.
  • Try not to eat nuts and seeds.

Sports activities help to strengthen the body's defenses. Physical activity should correspond to the capabilities of the body. Sport brings pleasure and health.

Compliance with these recommendations will help improve your well-being and avoid the occurrence of unpleasant symptoms.

Self-diagnosis

You need to know how to identify symptoms that have arisen on your own to make sure that your appendix may hurt.

Self-diagnosis of abdominal pain

It is worth noting that two people are needed to carry out the self-diagnosis. Excessive stress leads to rupture of the appendix, the development of peritonitis:

  • Lying on your back, legs are extended. You need to tap with a bent finger on the right side of the abdomen. If this is an ailment, then pain will immediately appear. The procedure on the left side will not cause any discomfort.
  • Attempting to cough leads to increased pain. Determine the source of the pain, put your hand, lightly pressing it into place. In a second, the discomfort goes away. Removing the hand, pain is felt again.
  • Lie on the sofa, on your side, curl up like a child in the womb. The legs are pulled up to the body. If it is appendicitis, then the pain syndrome will subside. On the left side, the opposite picture will be observed: the pain will become more intense. These are clear signs of acute appendicitis.

Having independently determined the cause of the pain, the patient goes to the hospital to receive medical care.
