List of necessary medicines for pancreatitis

The list of drugs for pancreatitis, which is issued by a doctor, includes not only enzyme and pain medications.

To support the work and, ultimately, the restoration of the pancreas, even antibiotics are prescribed.

Treatment of pancreatitis depends on the form in which it occurs - acute or chronic. In addition, the choice of drugs is often associated with concomitant pancreatitis disease - cholecystitis.

Since the condition of the patient is extremely serious in case of acute illness, he is prescribed the reception of a whole complex of medicines.

Each prescribed medicine for pancreatitis is aimed at the accomplishment of its task, due to which all painful and unpleasant sensations caused by the acute form of the disease disappear.

Therapeutic therapy against pancreatitis in adults involves the use of drugs from five groups.

The first group is a medicine containing enzymes for digestion. These drugs, which are used to treat pancreatitis, are "Creon" and "Mezim."

In conditions of impaired pancreas they fill the deficit of digesting the contents of the stomach proteins.

Due to this, the body of the digestive system is released from an unbearable mission and is at rest.

"Mezim", which comes in the form of compressed powder, should be taken before breakfast, lunch and dinner. Treatment with "Creon" follows the same pattern.

Only this medicine has the shape of a capsule to be resistant to the cleavage effects of gastric secretion.

The second group - drugs aimed at enhancing the action of enzyme tablets. This group includes such drugs as "Omeprazole" and "Gastrozol."

In addition to assisting in the digestion of food, the treatment with these medicines is aimed at suppressing the secretion of pancreatic secretion and normalizing the acidity of gastric juice.

The third group includes antacid medicines. They envelop the mucous membrane of the stomach, protecting it from possible damage.

As a result, a patient with pancreatitis stops belching and does not feel heartburn. As an antacid drug, the doctor can prescribe Almagel, which is required to drink as a solution, or Maaalox, used in the form of tablets.

But these medications should be used in moderation, which is important even in acute pancreatitis, as in case of an overdose they can not bring good, but harm.

The fourth group of drugs that treat inflamed pancreas include antibiotics necessary to avoid complications of pancreatitis.

Each patient is selected individually. The last, the fifth group, includes painkillers "Dicetel", "Mebeverin" or "Odeston", without which in acute pancreatitis can not do.

How to be treated for chronic pancreatitis?

Since the inflammation of the pancreas in adults often leads to the production of excess acid, manifestations of chronic pancreatitis are usually eliminated with drugs that reduce the acidity of gastric secretion.

Antacids not sucked from the gastrointestinal cavity into the blood and containing magnesium and aluminum, as well as medicines that block histamine, for example, "ranitidine", are suitable for this purpose.

Another treatment for a damaged pancreas involves the use of drugs that inhibit the activity of the enzymes that it produces.

As a result, the digestive system stops digesting itself. The drug that stops this process is Aprotinin.

He is also used for exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, that is, with severe pain and increased activity of amylase in the blood.

If a patient with chronic pancreatitis suffers from heartburn and eructations and constantly feels vomiting, then it is recommended to take medications that improve the motility of the gastrointestinal tract.

"Metoclopramide" is treated 3 times a day, taking 10 mg, "Domperidon" or "Sulpiridom" - as well, but swallowing capsules of 100 mg.

To eliminate pain in chronic pancreatitis, take "No-shpu", "Platifillin", "Papaverin" or other antispasmodic.

To protect the gastric mucosa from the destructive effects of acid-saturated juice, liquid antacids, that is, "Fosfalugel" or "Almagel", are consumed.

When exacerbating pancreatitis in chronic form, it is customary to use those drugs, which will make it possible to suppress intolerable pain sensations and compensate for the lack of enzymes removed from the pancreas.

These categories of medicines include Spazmalgon, No-shpa and Mebeverin, relaxing the muscles of the stomach, and Creon with Pansinorm, which are made up of lipase.

Treatment of pancreatitis with its aggravation will be more effective if the listed drugs are combined with the reception of "Rabeprazole" or "Omeprazole."

As soon as it is possible to cope with the manifestations of pancreatitis in its aggravation, the patient is prescribed treatment with enzyme preparations.

Chronic disease of the gland responsible for digestion should be treated by taking 1 to 3 capsules during and after a meal. The dose of enzyme medication depends on the degree of lipase deficiency.

What should I do with pancreatitis and cholecystitis?

Since often the cause of pancreatic inflammation in adults is a failure in the liver and gallbladder, it is necessary to treat the body from pancreatitis and cholecystitis simultaneously.

Treatment of one or another disease separately will not bring the proper result.

To bring the work of the gallbladder and pancreas in order and, therefore, to eliminate cholecystitis and pancreatitis, the following drugs are taken:

  • cholekinetics, which are cholagogic agents. They promote the release of bile from the tubules of the liver and gallbladder, thereby preventing stagnant phenomena in these organs. Usually the need for their application arises in the hypomotor form of cholecystitis. The cholekinetics are "Magnesium sulfate", "Sorbitol" and "Xylitol";
  • antispasmodic agents that exert a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles of the internal organs. These medications are indispensable in the hypertensive form of the lesion of the bile duct. Their tasks include alleviating the outflow of bile and relieving tension from the sphincter of the gallbladder. Such drugs are "Atropine" and "Papaverin";
  • antibiotics, whose purpose is to eliminate inflammation of the pancreas and gallbladder. Doctors are advised to drink such medications from this category that have a wide range of effects and can accumulate in large amounts in bile. Often, antibiotics for oral administration in the treatment of cholecystitis and pancreatitis are replaced with solutions administered to the body parenterally;
  • hepatoprotectors, prescribed by a doctor for the treatment of diseases with low activity of hepatic cells and the production of an insufficient amount of bile. These medicines used for cholecystitis regenerate damaged areas of the liver and improve its functioning;
  • enzymes, which are supposed to treat the body from pancreatitis and cholecystitis, which occurred simultaneously. These medicines work in place of sick organs and compensate for the shortage of substances necessary for digesting food. With cholecystitis and pancreatitis, they are taken directly after a meal or just leaving the table;
  • preparations containing hydrochloric acid, which help to treat the pancreas, since they contribute to better digestion of food. They also facilitate the functioning of the inflamed due to pancreatitis and cholecystitis organs.

So, to cure the pancreas, you need to use more than one drug. After all, different manifestations of the disease are eliminated by different means.

Complex treatment therapy, consisting of enzymes, painkillers, antibiotics and other medications, will significantly improve the patient's condition, even if in addition to pancreatitis he suffers from cholecystitis.
