Acute cystitis: treatment, diagnosis, symptoms

Cystitis is a disease that characterizes the inflammatory process that covers the bladder. The disease is very common and occurs both in the female and in the male, but because of the special anatomical structure, women are more often endangered by the disease.

Symptoms and causes.

The onset of the disease occurs suddenly, acutely and is characterized by a very painful process of urination, and the spread of pain to the suprapubic zone. In addition, the frequency of urination increases very much, and desires occur every fifteen to twenty minutes. To start urinating, a lot of effort is required, at the end of this process, a few drops of blood often appear, and urine acquires turbidity. The flow of acute cystitis is accompanied by fever, attacks of sudden nausea, sometimes even vomiting. The urine becomes milky and becomes completely opaque. As for the causes of acute cystitis, there are several.

  1. The main reason is, of course, the process of hypothermia of the whole organism, and the subcooling of the pelvic area and its organs is of particular importance. For the onset of this disease, fifteen minutes of sitting on a cold one is enough, and the first reasons will not be long in coming.

  2. Very often acute cystitis occurs in people who sit in one place within six or more hours.
  3. Constipation especially frequent and prolonged is also a precursor of the disease.
  4. People who suffer from acute cystitis often suffer from very sharp, salty, overcooked foods that do not particularly like to drink all this amount of food with the right amount of liquid.
  5. Sometimes, gynecological, urological or venereal diseases accompanied by severe inflammatory processes may be the cause of the onset, especially if these diseases have been treated, but in already far neglected forms and stages and have already left some complications in the body. And worse if they tried to heal themselves.
  6. Diseases of a chronic nature can also be the cause of acute cystitis.
  7. Weakened immunity.
  8. Not observance of the rules of general hygiene, but special hygiene of sexual life and sexual contacts.
  9. Wearing tight and uncomfortable underwear, corrective linen, etc.
  10. If the treatment of acute cystitis was performed on its own or was not fully cured, and the remaining pathogens provoked the recurrence of the disease.
  11. All kinds of injuries and stress on the back and pelvic region.

The acute form of cystitis is very dangerous and painful, since it affects both the bladder and its mucous membrane, and if the diagnosis is wrong and the diagnosis is incorrect, the disease becomes chronic. Symptoms of cystitis has numerous and varied and so without diagnostic studies it is difficult to put an accurate diagnosis.

Diagnosis of the disease.

The mandatory diagnostic tests prescribed by a urologist include all necessary blood and urine tests and, of course, cystoscopy. Which will show the exact data on the state of the bladder and thus help to make the correct diagnosis and prescribe the necessary treatment. Diagnosis of cystitis is a prerequisite for the appointment of further treatment.

Methods of treatment of acute cystitis.

First of all, it must be remembered that self-treatment of acute cystitis is unacceptable and can lead to very serious consequences. Often, his cystitis treatment is preferably carried out in a hospital or at home, but with very strict rules. The most important thing is the patient's bed regimen, the presence of a constant and plentiful drink, observance of a strict diet that excludes salted, fried and spicy. With regard to drug treatment, it is certainly antibacterial drugs and drugs that eliminate the spasm of smooth muscles of the bladder. If emergency treatment is needed, then a solution of 2% papaverine and 0.1% atropine is injected subcutaneously and heat is applied to the abdomen. Antibacterial drugs are prescribed after a preliminary antibiotic therapy and have a course of treatment lasting several months. Then again an antibioticogram is made after which there is a substitution for other antibiotics, nitrofurans and sulfanilamides. In addition to all of the above, anti-inflammatory therapy and general restorative therapy are prescribed + drugs that restore immunity. A special place in the treatment of acute cystitis is occupied by thermal procedures. It can be like warm herbal baths with herbs of oak bark, chamomile and St. John's wort and a usual hot-water bottle superimposed on the area of the bladder. A prerequisite for these procedures is that the permissible water temperature should not exceed 37.5ºC, otherwise there may be a disturbance of the microcirculation and the inflamed bladder. Thermal procedures are appointed exclusively by a physician after establishing an accurate diagnosis and determining all causes for difficulty urinating. If the process of the disease is delayed, then sometimes procedures are applied for washing the bladder with special warm solutions including 2% boric acid, furacilin, ethacridine, and 1-2% solution of collargol, as well as fish oil and antibacterial drugs. If pain is unbearable when urinating, then microclysters with a two percent warm novocaine are prescribed, presoxal novocain blockades are possible, in exceptional cases, narcotic drugs are used to stop pain.
And, of course, it's a diet and a plentiful drink, which will contribute to the removal of all the bacteria and inflammatory products from the inflamed bladder. Particular attention should be paid to the reception of broths from bearberry, kidney tea, compotes, slightly alkaline mineral water, all these drinks contain biologically active substances that contribute to the process of mucus formation, which in turn covers the bladder and protects it from repeated attacks of cystitis.
