Shockwave therapy (SWT) for athletes

Shockwave therapy

UHT can be used for both chronic and acute soft tissue diseases. During the treatment, muscle tension is relieved, recovery time is shortened, and the patient can quickly return to shape. Medical clinic "Health" invites athletes to improve the quality of recovery after exertion and to heal the consequences of injury faster with the help of shock wave therapy.

What is the procedure

UHT is a type of non-invasive treatment that is performed over several sessions with the help of special equipment. The procedure is effective in the treatment of soft tissues, especially tendons, and when the injury has developed into a chronic condition. The length of each session depends on the type of injury and its severity. The procedures are done as a course without interruption to obtain a cumulative effect.

It is a safe alternative to surgery, steroids and other drugs that stimulate metabolic reactions. Shockwave therapy activates the healing process, stimulates the synthesis of enzymes involved in pain relief.

The beneficial effect on damaged tissue is through specially calibrated acoustic waves that create tiny cavitation bubbles in the tissue. They subsequently burst, which stimulates blood flow, increases stem cell activity, and decreases inflammatory mediators. Patients following shock wave therapy can expect pain relief, improved circulation to surrounding tissues, and faster recovery.
