Hydrocephalus is a pathological condition that occurs when excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the cranial cavity. Disease in untimely or incorrect treatment can trigger global lesions of brain structures and cause death. The hydrocephalus of the brain in a child is curable!

Treatment of hydrocephalus

Principles of treatment of

Management of patients with hydrocephalus implies:

  • carrying out detailed diagnostic measures;
  • the choice of the program of drug treatment;
  • continuous monitoring of the patient's condition and making appropriate adjustments to the treatment regimen;
  • implementation of supportive activities at the expense of traditional medicine;
  • carrying out surgical manipulations in difficult situations and in case of insufficient response of drug treatment.

Treatment with pharmaceuticals

In case of timely diagnosis of the dropsy of the brain and detection of the disease in the starting phase, it is advisable to treat hydrocephalus medically, using a complex therapeutic program from various classes of pharmaceuticals.

Treatment with hydrocephalus pharmacy

The main group of drugs from hydrocephalus are drugs that help reduce the production of cerebrospinal fluid. Such tablets in hydrocephalus are diuretics - diuretics, enhancing the excretion of urine from the body and reducing the fluid content in the tissues of the organs and the cavity of the skull. In hydrocephalus, diuretics of three subgroups are used:

  • loop;
  • osmotic;
  • inhibitors of carbonic anhydrase.

Loop diuretics are the most powerful and fast acting of today's diuretic drugs. Their action is based on the inhibition( inhibition) of chloride transport, slowing down the reverse absorption of sodium ions. Most often used in hydrocephalus Furosemid( Furosemiduin) in tableted form, by intramuscular or intravenous injection. The dosage of the medication is selected on an individual basis, depending on the clinical picture of the disease and the age of the patient. On average, the daily dose of the drug is 1 mg per 1 kg of body weight.

To potentiate the therapeutic effect, it is recommended to combine the above agent with a diuretic based on acetazolamide. This active substance is represented by the trade name Diacarb. The mechanism of action of the preparation is the inhibition of carbonic anhydrase, an enzyme-catalyst of processes in the cerebral plexus of the ventricles of the brain. How to drink diacarb in hydrocephalus? The dosage regimen is determined personally for each patient, but the daily dose of the drug should not exceed 750 mg. In neurological practice, it is customary to use the drug for five days, since taking it beyond this time increases the likelihood of developing metabolic acidosis.

Osmotic diuretics are often used in the treatment of a disease, especially with vertigo in hydrocephalus, for example: Mannit. Often the treatment program is presented by combined means containing a diuretic and an antihypertensive component. Among the most popular drugs for hydrocephalus, coupled with high blood pressure, is Triapurcompositum( Triampurcompositum).Tablets are taken orally after eating, without crushing the pill and washing down with a sufficient amount of liquid. The maximum daily dosage is 4 tablets.

Triapumpcomposite

The second group of drugs - nootropic drugs, which are neurometabolic stimulants, have a beneficial effect on higher mental functions. Recommended for use in hydrocephalus Cortexin( Cortexin), showing a high neuroprotective, antioxidant and nootropic effect. Quite often prescribe the reception of Glycine( Glycinum) in hydrocephalus, which improves metabolic processes in the brain tissues. In the treatment program for hydrocephalus, there is often a powerful antioxidant, nootropic, stress-protective agent, an inhibitor of free radical compounds - Mexidolum.

The third class of agents for the treatment of the disease are the correctors of cerebral circulation. The drug of first choice in hydrocephalus is Cavinton. The drug has an expanding effect on the blood vessels of the brain, increases blood circulation, helps improve the supply of tissues with oxygen.

Also in the treatment program may be:

  • solutions of plasma substitutes;
  • glucocorticosteroid preparations;
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
  • anti-migraine drugs;
  • derivatives of barbituric acid.

Folk remedies

Herbal Treatment
As a supportive and maintenance therapy often resort to the means of a "green pharmacy."However, the treatment of hydrocephalus with folk remedies is justified in mild disease and can not replace medical therapy. Treatment of hydrocephalus with herbs is carried out in the form of a continuous intake( at least one month) of decoctions and infusions from parts of medicinal plants. The medicinal preparation is prepared from one curative component, or by combining several active ingredients.
What is optimal to drink with hydrocephalus from the arsenal of phytotherapy? Among the numerous recipes, the most effective effect is shown by infusions and decoctions from parts of plants:

  • of the root, bark and young shoots of elderberry black;
  • root and fresh green parsley;
  • of the herb of spring( adonis);
  • of birch leaves and buds;
  • horseradish rhizomes;
  • corn stigmas;
  • of the roots of the nettle;
  • of fresh or dry leaves of plantain;
  • grass and inflorescence of clover meadow;Oregano grass
  • ;
  • of juniper berries;
  • of the marsh.

Conclusion

In the case of rapid burdening of the disease and in advanced stages, the only way out to overcome the pathology is surgical intervention. Surgical manipulations are aimed at eliminating obstructions that led to disruption of the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid, a decrease in its quantitative production, creation of detours for the outflow of fluid from the cranial cavity. Timely operation provides an end to the progression of the disease more than 80% of patients of any age category.
