Instructions for use In order to understand how the Rennie and how effective is it, you must first understand the problem: why there is heartburn.

The burning sensation itself indicates irritation of the mucosa of the lower esophagus. This happens most often due to contact with part of stomach contents into the esophagus( reflux) as hydrochloric acid and other digestive enzymes act aggressively on the mucosa and provoke a chemical burn.

Refluxes occur also with normal operation of the gastrointestinal tract, but rarely, therefore do not damage the protective layer of the lower parts of the esophagus.

During pregnancy, especially after the second trimester, the uterus grows more and more, providing the fetus with the space necessary for growth.

Disorders of esophageal sphincter contraction

Part of the extra "volume" of the future mother is a growing abdomen, but this is not enough. Gradually the enlarged uterus displaces the internal organs: the intestine rises slightly, and the stomach squeezes.

As a result, increased intragastric pressure, and cardiac valve( jumper between the esophagus and the stomach) can not cope, closes completely and does not leave a small gap through which the contents of the stomach is thrown up into the esophagus, causing heartburn.

Occurrence of periodic heartburn during pregnancy, especially in later periods, is considered acceptable and is not a sign of serious pathologies.

provoke a burning sensation in the esophagus may be some foods( tomatoes, spicy, legumes, sodas, white bread, sour fruit), overeating, nervous stress, bending or sleep after a meal.

In such cases, it is perfectly permissible to use Rennie to remove discomfort. Nevertheless, it is worth consulting with a doctor about the possible causes and consequences of heartburn, learn about the available methods of neutralizing it.

The main danger of prolonged or frequent heartburn is serious damage to the esophageal mucosa.

Possible implications of this disease include inflammation of the esophagus( esophagitis), the development of chronic disruption of the cardia( gastroesophageal reflux disease), ulceration of the esophagus wall, the appearance of cancer cells and other neoplasms.

To the appearance of heartburn during pregnancy, it is worth paying special attention if you have suffered from this ailment before.

During pregnancy, possible exacerbation of chronic diseases, the development of complications of various pathologies of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract.

Do not start uncontrolled medication, even heartburn pills are labeled as dangerous for future and nursing mothers.

Rennie can be taken 1-2 times without consulting a doctor, but if you feel the need to drink it more often, consult with specialists.

Principle of action and indications for use

Rennie belongs to the group of antacid preparations that eliminate heartburn by neutralizing hydrochloric acid and other digestive enzymes.

Active substances( calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate in Rennie) chemically react with hydrochloric acid and decomposed to water and its salts, which were then partially removed from the body and partially absorbed into the blood.

By neutralizing hydrochloric acid, the overall acidity in the stomach decreases, so getting a small amount of digestive juices on the esophagus mucosa does not provoke such intense burns, irritation of the mucosa calms down and heartburn passes.

Rennie is often recommended for rapid relief of discomfort in the stomach during inflammatory processes, gastritis and ulcers.

This medicine is prescribed for diseases of other organs of the gastrointestinal tract: duodenal ulcer, duodenitis, inflammation of mucous membranes of various organs.

Because Rennie is a drug of limited duration and, unlike antisecretory medications for heartburn, does not provoke a long-term change in the acid-base balance in the stomach, it is often recommended to neutralize heartburn associated with overeating, heavy eating of fatty foods, alcohol poisoning, excessive consumptionmedicines.

Chewing pills for heartburn

Rennie's components are partially absorbed into the blood, so the drug has a fairly wide range of contraindications.

In addition to individual intolerance and allergic reaction to active substances( this is contraindicated by all medicines without exception), Rennie is not recommended for use in the presence of kidney disease or any disruption of the liver.

With prolonged use, Rennie flushes phosphate out of the body, so its use is categorically contraindicated in people suffering from hypophosphataemia.

Calcium compounds, Rennie's active substances, are partially absorbed into the blood, so the drug is not recommended for use in patients with elevated levels of calcium in the blood.

Rennie can be taken to children over 12 years of age, pregnant and nursing mothers in a limited dosage and strictly on the advice of a doctor.

To younger children, Rennie is rarely prescribed, more often it is replaced with drugs of a similar action that are not absorbed into the blood.

Side effects of

Excessive dosage, prolonged use, or individual sensitivity to Rennie's components may cause side effects. Most of them are not dangerous and pass after the drug is discontinued.

Among the most common reactions to Rennie can be noted:

  • skin rashes, redness, itching, swelling;
  • acidic ricochet - increased secretion of hydrochloric acid immediately after the expiration of Rennie. May cause recurrent, more intense heartburn;
  • disruption of the digestive system - vomiting, diarrhea, a feeling of heaviness in the stomach;
  • hypercalcemia, elevated levels of calcium in the body, and with prolonged use - the formation of stones in the kidneys and bile ducts;
  • feeling of weakness, lethargy;
  • angioedema( swelling of the subcutaneous tissue, skin and mucous membranes);
  • for an acute allergic reaction - anaphylactic shock.

It is worth noting the "positive" side reactions of Rennie. Since calcium compounds, which act as active components of the drug, are absorbed into the blood, a depleted calcium reserve may replenish in pregnant women.

If you are constantly taking any other medications, you should consult your doctor.

Rennie changes the absorption rate and the therapeutic effect of some medications: enhances the effect of Aspirin and nalidixic acid, reduces absorption of iron, indometacin, barbiturates, etc.

In some cases, drug interactions can be prevented by taking them at different times( the minimum interval is1 hour).

Instructions for medication, as a rule, contain detailed information on possible chemical interactions with other drugs, so carefully read the documentation for those medicines that you are already taking.

Instructions for use

Rennie is available in the form of dissolving pastilles with mint or orange flavor. With a single admission of the drug, it is enough to dissolve 1, a maximum of 2 tablets.

If the desired effect does not come, and you continue to suffer from heartburn, then you can take the drug again after two or three hours.

Repeated reception Rennie is undesirable, as the risk of "acid ricochet", increased production of hydrochloric acid and exacerbation of heartburn increases.

Daily the drug can be taken no more than 10 days in a row. Rennie can not drink milk, eat dairy products soon after taking.

Rennie is not a medicine for treating any causes of heartburn - this is an emergency remedy for acute symptoms.

If heartburn occurs frequently, consult a doctor for diagnosis, adjust the diet, exclude the presence of allergic reactions to these or other products.

Without the recommendation of a doctor, Rennie can be taken only in extreme cases, for a quick, one-time withdrawal of acute heartburn.

In each package of the drug, according to the legislation, there is an instruction for use - be sure to read it before taking Renny.
