Protrusion of intervertebral discs

Protrusion of the intervertebral disc is a disease of the spine, due to the fact that the body incorrectly uses unique formations that are located in the space between the vertebrae. This is expressed by the protrusion of this unique formation from the disk, so it enters the adjacent vertebrae. On the cervical vertebrae, this protrusion can be up to 2 mm, and in the lumbar vertebrae much more than 5 mm. Otherwise, this is called a herniated intervertebral disc, there are two moments of consolation in this diagnosis: it is not always painful, and most importantly, the fibrinous ring that surrounds the ring of the disc does not break.

To treat this ailment is necessary, but first of all it is necessary to be defined with the reason of appearance of protrusion, to establish what kind of activity it is necessary to exclude from life. Unfortunately, the reasons are more than enough and it is far from always easy to determine the root cause, the more so if the case is launched.

Causes of protruding

  • low mobility, stagnation is formed;
  • microtrauma, light and invisible, of course, such a cause will be difficult to remember and even understand;
  • metabolic disorders also contribute to the development of protrusion;
  • is often caused by heredity;
  • birth injury;
  • poor development of dorsal muscles;
  • the most common is incorrect posture;
  • may be caused by infection;
  • heavy loads on the spine;
  • leads to protrusions known diseases: osteoporosis, scoliosis, osteochondrosis;
  • sudden movement with heavy load leads to severe injury;
  • sports, with its exorbitant loads;
  • viruses and some infectious diseases;
  • can weaken back muscles or wear joint joints with age.

In general, the reasons are sufficient, right up to malnutrition, very well, if the patient is drawn timely, immediately after the onset of pain, it is easier to establish the cause.

Types of protrusions

Circular protrusion is considered the simplest form and is more easily treatable.

Dorsal - affects the size of the spinal canal, can make it narrow, this makes it difficult to treat.

Foramenal and lateral - two types of protrusions, in which there are always acute pains, the most problematic forms.

Symptoms of

The main reason that a patient may notice is pain, but pain does not cause protrusion, but any part of the body that is nearby and comes into contact with this protrusion. For example, it can be: a muscle, a ligament, even vessels or a cerebral membrane. To obvious symptoms can be attributed and numbness of the limbs( especially the fingers on the hands), numbness of the hands in the raised state. The reason for this is the clamping of the vessels and nerves that pass in the strained muscles of the neck. Often the symptom is tingling in the limbs, a feeling of goosebumps, excessive sweating of the skin, which means that in these places there is a pinched nerve. Similarly, the protrusion can be expressed in sudden dizziness with tilts or strains.

The danger is that due to the rupture of the fibrous ring, a discoid pulpous nucleus falls out, often it leads to paralysis.

Treatment of

Treatment of protrusions is carried out in two directions, exercise therapy is physical therapy, and medicamentous, which includes anti-inflammatory drugs, and to strengthen cartilage tissue:

  • movalis, diclofenac, ketones, xefokam, ketorol;
  • uses a vitamin series: neuromultivitis and milgamma;
  • strengthening cartilage tissue: all kinds of supplements and ingredients that contain glucosaminoglycan and chondraitin sulfate;
  • is sometimes prescribed massage, a set of physical exercises is selected, depending on the form of protrusion, the age of the person and the physical condition. It should be noted that such exercises, correctly selected, this is a big step towards recovery, they are often more effective than medicine.

However, protrusion often triumphs due to the fact that the source of the disease remains a mystery for doctors. People handle the neglected forms, and can not even remember when and how the trauma occurred, afterwards it passes into the vertebral hernia.

Methods of Osteopathy

Modern methods of diagnosing osteopathy are able to determine the most probable causes and time of onset of the disease, this significantly increases the chances of a correct diagnosis and quality treatment. Methods of homeopathy and reflexotherapy are widely known.
