Contusion of the breast

Traumatic injury of the breast can be open and closed, combined and isolated. To injuries closed include hematomas and bruises of the breast. Open cuts include stabbed, cut, bitten and gunshot wounds. In mammology, all kinds of breast damage, even though this organ is located on the surface, can be met quite rarely, they are somewhere 1-2% of any mammary pathology.

Injuries can be combined with any lesions in the chest area, i.e. With bruises, hemothorax, pneumothorax, sternal and rib fractures. Any trauma of the breast can be complicated by bleeding and suppuration, and also lead to painful shock.

Causes of a lesion of the breast

Contusions can often be the result of injuries in the home - falls or accidental bruises, for example, in transport or during games, in auto accidents, etc.

If a traumatic event occurred, the integrity in the vessels is violated, and this can lead to hemorrhage. If the bruise is minor, the bleeding may stop quickly. The tissues of the breast are very resistant to injury, but due to the good supply of this organ, a bruise can be accompanied by painful shock, especially if the lesion was on the parareolar or nipple part.

An open wound of the breast, which happens more often, is the result of violence or the result of an unsuccessful injection or a fall on a pointed object. A feature of such wounds is infection with microorganisms that are resistant to antibacterial drugs.

Symptoms of bruises

Usually a bruised breast can be accompanied by the appearance of a hematoma under the skin or at a depth - a blood clot in the soft tissue of the breast. After a while, the hematoma can resolve, but more often in place of the hematoma formed conglomerate - fatty necrosis. In addition, if the blood spilled onto the tissue is infected, it is possible to suppuration and the formation of an abscess in the mammary gland.

The result of a bruise can be pains that bother the patient, a swelling that persists for a long period. Sometimes, if the milk ducts are injured, it can be accompanied by secretions from the nipple - they can be either transparent or with an admixture of blood.

At the place where the bruise was, usually a compacted area remains, but it does not pose a hazard for malignancy. And on the other hand, the resulting trauma can become a factor provoking the growth of a more serious tumor, which has not yet been identified. The anamnesis of many patients, who eventually was diagnosed with breast cancer, suggests that earlier there was a chest injury. A bruise is very dangerous in the presence of nodal mastopathy. Replacement of necrosis on scar tissue sometimes causes skin retraction, deformity of the breast, and this is often qualified as cancer disease.

Therefore, for any contusion of the breast, hematoma, seals, when the color changes, you should contact a mammologist for a survey.

Injury treatment

In case of injury, immobilize the injured area of the chest, fix it with a bandage. To stop the pain syndrome, a retromammary blockade is carried out. To accelerate the resolution of the hematoma, apply dry heat, rub the troxevasin or heparin ointment. Degraded hematoma within 4, and sometimes 6 weeks.

To prevent suppuration of extensive hematoma, prescribe antibiotic therapy. If a posttraumatic abscess develops, the treatment is performed according to the principle of therapy of such a disease as purulent mastitis with puncture, as well as drainage of the focus.

Remove the hematoma in the event of a significant hemorrhage in the gland tissues or retro-matmatic tissue. Evacuate the spilled blood by puncture.

When forming a hematoma, a false cyst, a tumor-like node, a cicatricial alteration, perform a sectoral resection with the histology of the macro preparation.
