Onions with pancreatitis - can or can not?
Inflammation of the pancreas requires not only medical treatment but also adherence to a strict diet.
Green and onions, as well as leeks, have a direct effect on the pancreas and should be used with great care.
How to prepare the onion, and how much it can be eaten, depends on the chronic or acute form of the disease. Despite this, with pancreatitis, there are several ways to treat onions.
Acute inflammation of
Any kind of fresh onion contains substances that, when exacerbated, irritate the mucosa of the pancreas. These substances include:
- acids and essential oils - increase the secretion of enzymes, which in acute pancreatitis begin to break down pancreatic tissue;
- dietary fiber - increase the intestinal peristalsis, which leads to aggravation of the symptoms of inflammation: flatulence and bloating become aggravated, diarrhea becomes more frequent.
Boiled or braised onions contain far fewer foodborne pathogens, but even this amount will be enough to damage the inflamed gland. To ensure that the pancreas does not become inflamed even more, with acute pancreatitis it is necessary to refuse the use of any kind of onions, as well as various dishes with its use. Compliance with this requirement is necessary until all symptoms of inflammation disappear completely.
Chronic course of the disease
During the period when the disease enters the stage of remission, that is, all acute inflammatory processes in the pancreas subside, onions can be consumed, but with certain precautions. First, only boiled or stewed onions are added to the food. When you achieve a stable remission, you can add to the diet a small amount of fresh herbs or flesh, necessary to maintain the vitamin balance. However, you should always follow how the body reacts to this.
Consuming green feathers
A fragrant and appetizing green onion, which is rich in vitamins and various trace elements, is not used in pancreatitis even in the remission stage. Unfortunately, juicy feathers can provoke a new attack. Eat green onions can only be after heat treatment, for example, blanched, boiled, part of the filling for pies or fried with other vegetables.
The only exception to the rule are patients who have a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism. With this form of pancreatitis, onion greens will help breakdown of glucose, but its amount for food intake is determined only by the doctor.
Leek and its properties
Leek contains many essential microelements and vitamins, it has a gentle, pleasant taste, but it can be consumed with pancreatitis only in the stage of persistent remission. The disease should not manifest itself in any way. The leek contains a large amount of nicotinic and ascorbic acids, as well as carotene, thiamine and riboflavin. It is these substances that can provoke an acute inflammatory attack. The use of fresh leeks should be minimal and strictly controlled.
Introduction to food of this type of onions is allowed after passing through heat treatment.
The use of onion in onions
As in the case of leek and spring onions, juicy onion use in pancreatitis is possible only at the stage of remission of the disease. Bulbs are used boiled, blanched, stewed and baked. Their useful properties during heat treatment are preserved. Passed onions can not be consumed. The amount of fresh bulb that can be eaten per day is always agreed with the attending physician. To determine it, it uses a special table.
During remission, the right onion onion cleanses and repairs the pancreas. It contains glucinin, which regulates carbohydrate metabolism.
Onion medicine
There are several medicinal recipes, the use of which in pancreatitis can smooth the manifestations of the disease for a long time. For treatment successfully applied onion, which can be prepared in the following ways:
- Every day before breakfast you need to eat one warm bulb onion, baked in the oven or boiled until soft. Treatment lasts a month. The disease should be in remission, and on the part of the body there should be no negative reaction.
- Use in pancreatitis syrup from baked onions with sugar. The mixture is prepared from a kilogram of onions with the addition of two glasses of sugar. The bulbs are well pressed, transferred to a baking container, filled with sugar, and then baked in the oven. The syrup is considered ready after it acquires a yellowish tinge, and the sugar is completely dissolved. Accepted three times a day for a tablespoon of onion mixture is able to significantly improve the patient's condition over a month.
Patients with pancreatitis should carefully and carefully treat the consumption of fresh onions of any kind. In chronic disease, boiled or baked onions can be eaten without fear of harming the pancreas, but during an acute attack of the disease, onions can not be used in any form.
