Inflammation of the seminal tubercle( colliculitis) - symptoms and treatment

click fraud protection

Colliculitis( inflammation of the seminal tubercle) is an infectious-inflammatory lesion of a portion of the prostatic part of the urethra of the primary or secondary genesis. The specified pathology does not have any age preferences. An immediate threat to life, inflammation of the seminal tubercle does not carry( in most cases), but it does not need to relax: colliculitis represents a huge danger for men's health. Therefore, it is so important to "know the enemy in person."What is colliculitis and how to cope with it?

Brief anatomical data

Seed mound( aka seedhills) - a thickening of the prostatic urethra. At the top of this anatomical structure is a hole called martha. The normal dimensions of the mound are 15x3x3 mm .

During the inflammatory process, it increases to 20 or more mm, preventing the normal passage of urine through the urethra.

The role of the seminal tubercle in the functioning of the male reproductive system has not been fully established. Some scientists and practitioners hold the opinion that the mound is of great importance in the formation of normal erection and ejaculation, while others consider the described structure to be a rudiment of female genital organs. Exact functional purpose is not known. Previously, it was also believed that the mound prevents the ejection of ejaculate into the bladder. However, later it was proved that this is not so. The functional role of such a formation of the prostatic part of the urethra appears to be overestimated.

Causes of inflammation of the seminal tubercle and the mechanism of its formation

Colliculitis is a polyethylene disease. In its formation, the role is played simultaneously by several reasons. The main factors of development:

  • Genitourinary infections and colliculitis

    Infections of the genitourinary system of men provoke colliculitis.

    Diseases of the male sexual sphere. First of all, urethritis( inflammation of the urethra), prostatitis( inflammation of the prostate, occurs less frequently), etc. The mechanism of pathology formation in this case has a secondary nature. Since in most cases the diseases of the male sexual sphere are of an infectious nature, the pathogen moves to the region of the seminal tubercle, forming a new focus of inflammation.

  • Sexually Transmitted Infections. Pathogens penetrate into the urethra, causing inflammation in the mound. The pathological process caused by venereal infectious agents is particularly difficult.
  • Harmful habits: smoking, alcohol abuse. They lead to irritation of the urethra, including the seminal tubercle.
  • Hypodinamy. It is the cause of stagnation in the pelvic organs. This is a factor in the development of colliculitis.
  • Irregular sex life.
  • Long erection, not ending with intercourse.
  • Disturbances of pelvic circulation. In this case, the formation of the prostatic part of the urethra receives less oxygen and nutrients. Dystrophic processes begin.
  • Weighed down by heredity.
As a rule, when forming inflammation, there are several reasons at once.

Symptoms of

Symptoms vary from patient to patient. In general, the clinical picture consists of the following manifestations:

  • Pain with colliculitis

    Pain in the groin area accompanies the inflammation of the seminal tubercle.

    Pain syndrome in the groin. Discomfort is localized in the area of the penis, anus. Pain can irradiate( give) to the testicles, the lower part of the abdomen. By nature, it is aching, pulling. It increases during and immediately after urination.

  • Sensation of incomplete emptying of the bladder after urination. Feeling of discomfort when emptying the body.
  • Hematuria( traces of blood in the urine structure).It is caused by inflammation of the seminal tubercle.
  • Feeling of discomfort in the anus. False in nature, discomfort gives away from the area of primary lesion.
  • Blood in the ejaculate.
  • Pain at the time of ejaculation. Pain syndrome acute, shooting. Caused by spasm of the musculature of the urethra and excessive irritation of the seed hillock.
  • Violations of sexual activity. First of all, we are talking about the weakening of the erection: it becomes sluggish, insufficient for a normal sexual intercourse. Also, there are changes in the libido( in the lower side).
  • Anorgasmia( complete or partial).Caused by a decrease in sensitivity during intercourse.
  • Frequent pollutions. During ejaculation, tenderness is observed.
  • Change in the color of urine. The urine acquires a reddish hue( remember, the normal color of urine is straw-yellow).
Usually the clinical picture is incomplete, because the acute development of colliculitis is not so common.

It is more often necessary to talk about subacute or chronic disease. This is extremely dangerous, as the patient writes off painful manifestations for urethritis, or his own male failure. Thus, he misses the precious time necessary for treatment.

Diagnostic measures

Diagnostics begins in the office of a specialized specialist. The first thing you need to do to the patient is to contact a urologist or urologist-andrologist( preferably).The basis of the initial examination is a questioning of the patient about the nature of complaints, as well as finger examination of the seminal tubercle through the rectum( necessary for estimating the size of the anatomical structure and the pain response).

Instrumental studies

Instrumental studies are also needed and include:

  • Urethroscopy with inflammation of the seminal tubercles

    Urethroscopy allows you to visually assess the condition of the seminal tubercles.

    Urethroscopy. An unpleasant study, however necessary. It is an introduction to the urethra of a flexible endoscope with a camera. Allows the doctor to estimate the sizes and character of a seed tubercle with the eyes.

  • Contrast radiography of the urethral canal.
  • MRI / CT scan. Both of these methods are informative enough to make an accurate diagnosis. But, in view of the low availability, they are rarely resorted to.

Laboratory research

Laboratory research is a great help in assessing the condition of the patient's body. Among them:

  • General blood test. In the general analysis, elevated levels of ESR( ESR), leukocytes will prevail. Erythrocytes - on the contrary, will be less than normal.
  • Biochemistry of blood.
  • General analysis of urine( leukocytosis, hematuria).

In a complex, these methods are sufficient for an accurate diagnosis. Usually, there is a smaller number of studies.

Treatment of colliculitis

Treatment presents a problem for a beginner specialist. It's important to approach it in a complex way. The basis of therapy is conservative methods: drug therapy and physiotherapy.

Drug therapy

Assignments of certain groups are prescribed:

  • Anti-inflammatory non-steroidal origin. It is necessary to eliminate the root cause of pain - inflammation.
  • Analgesics. They are painkillers.

Both these and other medications can be taken in a minimal dosage yourself up to 3 days. It is important not to overdo it, otherwise the patient risks complicating the life of the doctor, as the clinical picture will be "blurred".

  • Antibacterial agents. It is necessary to destroy the pathogens of infection in the small pelvis. It should be borne in mind that antibiotics are prescribed only after a special study( microflora crops to determine sensitivity to antibacterial agents).
  • Spasmolytic.
  • Diuretics( should be administered with caution, as urine stagnation is possible).

Physiotherapy

It is used only in the period of remission of inflammation of the seminal tubercle. Preference is given to ultrasound, currents.

Also resorted to washing the urethra and stamping the seed tubercle. Extinguishing( burning) of the seminal tubercle is a symptomatic therapy aimed at eliminating discomfort. For cauterization apply drugs based on silver, they kill the pathogenic flora and weaken the pain reaction, but do not eliminate the root cause of the disease. Therefore, an integrated approach is so important.

Surgical treatment

It is used in extreme cases, when conservative therapy is not possible. The need for surgery is determined by the doctor.

Prevention of inflammation of the seed tubercle

It is known that it is easier to prevent the disease than to treat it later. Preventive measures include a number of simple recommendations:

  • Hygiene of the genitals.

    The thorough hygiene of the genitals is an obligatory preventive measure.

    should avoid unprotected sex;

  • it is important to undergo preventive examinations;
  • should scrupulously observe the rules of personal hygiene;
  • if there are concomitant diseases of the genital area - it is important to treat them in time;
  • should promptly sanitize all sources of possible infectious lesions, especially those located near the seed hillock.

Inflammation of the seminal tubercle is a serious illness. It is possible for the development of necrosis, blood infection and death. Even in less severe cases, a persistent dysfunction of the reproductive system is formed. It is necessary to adhere to the rules of prevention, and if the misfortune still happened, it is timely to be treated. Only so the forecast will be favorable.
