Can I get pregnant with polysooospermia?

click fraud protection

Polyzoospermia is an increase in the concentration of spermatozoa in the ejaculate. Often spermatozoa are significantly weakened in comparison with those in normal sperm( the conclusion is "normospermia"), which causes infertility. Their number in polyzoospermia varies from 250 million to 300 in 1 ml of ejaculate.

Currently, there is no conclusive evidence that polysooospermia is a pathology. According to the results of numerous experimental studies, men with increased concentration of sperm in the ejaculate are capable of fertilization and do not have any problems with the level of fertility. However, some men with polyzoospermia have a reduced level of fertility. This is due to a significant decrease in the ability of spermatozoa to reproduce. In this case, hyperproduction of male gametes is an indication for treatment.

Increased sperm production can lead to decreased reproductive function and infertility. This is due to the fact that when a large number of sperm enter the woman's body, protective antibodies are produced in response, which interfere with the normal fertilization of the egg( in the case of polyzoospermia, antibodies are produced in large amounts).Quite often, the functional abilities of the male gametes themselves change, which turn out to be incapable of a normal attachment to the egg.

Fig.1 - Inflammatory processes can cause polyzoospermia.

Among the most common causes of development polysooospermia should note the following:

  • disruption in the endocrine system;
  • intoxication with chemicals or drugs;
  • prolonged radiation exposure to the body of a man;
  • processes of inflammation of male genital organs;
  • the pathology of blood vessels and the violation of the blood supply of the genital organs;
  • immunodeficiency states.

Diagnostics

The main informative diagnostic method for polysooospermia is the study of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of male sperm - spermogram .

This method allows to determine the following indicators:

  • volume of the extracted liquid;
  • liquefaction time and semen viscosity;
  • pH of the ejaculate;
  • sperm motility;
  • agglutination and aggregation of spermatozoa;
  • presence and number of leukocyte cells, epithelial cells;
  • the number of spermatogonia, spermatids of immature and spermatocytes.

Before collecting material for laboratory analysis, the following rules must be observed:

Spermogram analysis

Fig.2 - For an accurate diagnosis, you should make 2-3 spermograms.

  1. Abstain from sexual intercourse within 3-4 days before the test is given( see "Sexual abstinence for men - benefit or harm");
  2. It is not recommended to drink alcoholic beverages and narcotic drugs;
  3. It is necessary to minimize the consumption of drinks containing caffeine, 3 days before the analysis;
  4. Should be informed to the attending physician in the case of taking any medications( perhaps for a while you will have to stop taking them);
  5. On the eve of the study, it is not recommended to take hot baths, go to saunas( see "What causes overheating of testicles in men");
  6. It is undesirable to take for analysis the ejaculate obtained as a result of an interrupted sexual intercourse after using a latex condom.

In order to establish the causative factors for the development of polysooospermia in a man, an extensive examination of the body is necessary. This will help a doctor who, based on the data known to him, will determine the list of necessary laboratory and instrumental studies and send them to the right specialist.

Treatment

In almost half of cases, to eliminate pathological abnormalities in the spermogram, a man needs to normalize the regime of day and sleep, the nature of nutrition and physical activity.
Treatment of polysooospermia

Fig.3 - There is no specific treatment for polyzoospermia.

Treatment of polysooospermia in the initial stages of development is carried out by conservative methods:

  • is prescribed certain medications;
  • diet correction;
  • normalization of physical activity of men.

It is important to determine the cause of the development of hyperproduction of male gametes, which will help to form a specific treatment plan.

Chances of pregnancy and the possibility of ECO

The chance of successful fertilization and pregnancy completely depends, in this case, on the activity and vitality of the egg, as well as on the quality characteristics of the injected spermatozoa.

In detecting polysooospermia, it is possible to perform the procedure for in vitro fertilization( IVF).If there are certain indications, ICSI is carried out. The essence of this procedure is as follows:

  • from the testis tissue of a man by means of microsurgical intervention, a certain number of normal spermatozoa are taken;
  • is the cultivation of spermatozoa;
  • selects the best sperm in all indicators and injects into the egg( injected into the cytoplasm).
The conclusion "polysooospermia" is not a verdict! With timely and correct diagnosis, effective treatment, normalization of the working and resting regime, nutrition and exercise, it is possible to eliminate the problem.
