Increase in body temperature with prostatitis
Prostatitis is a dangerous infectious-inflammatory or degenerative-degenerative disease of the urological and / or andrological profile. According to statistics, about 40% of people under the age of 45 suffer from this severe illness. The higher the age of patients, the greater the percentage of cases. Among the age group 70+, the figure reaches almost 100%.
Symptomatic of this unpleasant disease is very characteristic and leaves no doubt in the diagnosis. Among the typical manifestations are problems with urination, pain, impaired ability to commit sexual intercourse. In rare cases, the body temperature rises. What does this manifestation mean and when does it occur?
Acute prostatitis temperature
Acute prostatitis is characterized by a clear symptomatology. Manifestations arise, practically, simultaneously and differ by a high degree of expression. The temperature in this case rises to significant figures. This refers to the subfebrile condition( 37-38.1 ° C) or febrility( 38.1-39.1 ° C).Developing hyperthermia( fever) is not always, but only with an inflammatory or infectious inflammatory process. In the second case, in this way the organism creates an unfavorable environment for the propagation of bacterial pathogens: at a body temperature above 37 ° C, the metabolism of infectious agents decreases, they fall into a static state and are unable to reproduce efficiently. This is part of the protective mechanism of the human body. In the case of inflammation it is a false positive. The organism in this way fights against imaginary pathogens of infection.
Temperature for chronic prostatitis
Does not rise almost never, or gives a picture of a weak, slow inflammatory process with minimal thermometer values of 37-37.5 ° C.The rise in body temperature is characterized by a slow, but unfavorable process in the prostate gland.
Both in that and in the other case it is quite possible growth or a sharp jump in the value of the thermometer to pyretic values (over 39.1 ° C).This is an extremely unfavorable diagnostic sign, indicative of the onset of complications, such as, for example, purulent inflammation of the prostate. At a certain moment, the temperature can drop abruptly to values below normal( 35-35.9 ° C).This is considered the basis for urgent hospitalization, since we have to talk about septic shock. This condition is fraught with a fatal outcome.
Is it necessary to bring down the temperature with prostatitis and how?
At thermometer values up to the level of 38.1 ° C, you do not need to do anything. This is a normal reaction of the body, taking antipyretics is not required. The symptomatic therapy is conducted to combat an infectious agent or inflammatory process with the administration of several pharmaceutical groups:
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for the treatment of inflammation.
- Analgesics to relieve pain syndrome.
- Spasmolytic and alpha-blockers to relieve the pathological muscle tension and normalize the outflow of urine.
- Vitamin-mineral complexes for the normalization of immunity.
- Antibacterial agents for combating bacterial and infectious agents in the structure of the prostate gland, or for preventing such secondary infection.
Antipyretics are shown at a temperature above 38.1 ° C, as already mentioned. There are several options. Not all medicines are equally safe. There are four main groups of antipyretic agents , which are recommended to take:
- Preparations based on ibuprofen .Ibuprofen, Nurofen and others are considered to be the most safe among all medicines of the said pharmaceutical group. Have antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects. Without a doctor's recommendation, they should not be taken at all. The risk of developing side effects of dyspeptic nature is high.
- Preparations based on paracetamol .Actually itself Paracetamol, as well as its derivatives with other trade names. Are effective means. However, negatively affect the work of the liver and excretory system, therefore, with the prostatitis, they can not be taken categorically.
- Drugs based on acetylsalicylic acid .Aspirin and its derivatives. They have a negative effect on the respiratory, cardiovascular and excretory systems. Take them not worth it.
- Means based on metamizole sodium .This is Analgin, Tempalgin, and others. They have minimal expressed antipyretic activity. Therefore, reception is not recommended.
