Food intoxication and how to fight it A little-known, but reliable fact - in pre-revolutionary Russia, the first place in the list of causes of death was gastrointestinal diseases. Not always benign food, lack of basic hygiene skills, crowding - all this taken together and led to such a deplorable result.

Business laws are inexorable: profit must be received at all costs! And a quarter of a century of market reforms have led to the fact that modern products, the abundance of which in showcases was the best argument in favor of a market economy, have long become a real danger to their consumers, regardless of their social position and the thickness of their wallet. The economic mechanism of this phenomenon is simple: in a competitive struggle, the one who has the lower production costs wins. In the case of food products, this means only one thing: raw materials should be extremely cheap. A cheap and high-quality - things, as you know, are not very compatible. And that's why there are products on the shelves of super- and hypermarkets, on market trays, and even simply on the ground. Advertising almost every minute drives us into the brain that it is the products of this firm or brand that are the most delicious, useful and safe. However, advertising itself is also worth the money, and they are again pawned in the price of products sold. The result is sad - we live in a world of falsified products: milk from coconut palm, sausages from vegetable protein and flavorings, "identical to natural."Eyes can be deceived by bright packaging, and the brain - at the time turn off advertising. But our stomach and liver, getting in a beautiful package or under the seller's assurances: "Baire, Sage, Mom Klyanus. .." still respond to these "products" exactly as they should respond to them: frustration, allergies.

What is intoxication?

Let's clarify: intoxication is an acute condition, which can include: nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, pain and spasms, dizziness and weakness, headache and even fever. As a consequence - such unpleasant and dangerous symptoms as dehydration, spasms and cramps, and even breathing disorders.

What causes intoxication? If initially such diseases were called, first of all, "sickness of dirty hands", today it is unfortunately not only the problem of individual hygiene. Very often, food poisoning is not only of a viral or bacterial nature, but also chemical poisoning( pesticides or nitrates), and even the products of the vital activity of parasites. It is clear that in this case it is a question of substandard products.

If to speak about the period of manifestation, then, first, everything depends on the severity and type of poisoning, and secondly - on the individual susceptibility of the organism to each specific toxin.

What to do with intoxication?

Let's look at a question that worries everyone: "When and in what case should I see a doctor?".Of course, it is believed that with proper home treatment the disease goes through two or three days. But here's the problem: there are types of intoxications that initially appear as mild food intoxications, but subsequently are serious infectious diseases or poisonings, for example, dysentery, botulism, poisoning with poisonous fungi or chemicals used in agriculture. Therefore, you can try to cope with the malaise yourself and hope that complications will not follow, but on the other hand, it is better to see a doctor at once to rule out the possibility of complications.

But what to do while we wait for the doctor? To begin with, it is very important to clean the stomach by washing it with warm boiled water with a small amount of potassium permanganate. After cleaning the stomach, you must take any absorbent product: activated carbon, enterodes, etc. And a plentiful drink, but in no way irritating the mucous, that is, it is necessary to exclude alcohol or coffee, as well as milk, since it is an ideal medium for the development of microorganisms.

Several people's councils

There is a mass of folk remedies, such as adding a tablespoon of salt to a glass of vodka, or adding red pepper, or a lot of "good advice".However, if the health of your stomach and intestines is still high, then categorically you should not resort to such recipes, since food intoxication is already the presence of poison in the body, and if we add alcohol to it, which is also, in essence, poison, Then the stomach and liver, and everything else the digestive tract will become quite "not sweet."

So it's better to be careful, but if there was such a trouble, it's better to help your body cope with it, rather than add problems.
