Recurrent bronchitis in children
Bronchitis in any of its manifestations is a very frequent disease among school-age children prone to allergies. Sometimes the disease can be repeated 4-5 times a year, especially in those children who have chronic inflammation of the nasopharynx or tonsillitis. Repeated bronchitis is a recurrent bronchitis. And today we will tell you about what is recurrent bronchitis in children of school age and how to treat it.
As mentioned above, recurrent bronchitis is a re-inflammation of the mucosa. With recurrent bronchitis, there are no large changes in bronchi, but this disease usually takes a very long time. This usually occurs when the child lives in a family where they smoke often, under adverse environmental conditions, if the child has poor weak immunity, nasopharyngeal inflammation or allergies.
Repetitions, in other words, relapses, begin in children most often in the spring or autumn. It is after the wave of acute respiratory diseases. In pediatrics there are two types of course of recurrent bronchitis:
-
Obstructive( in case the child has allergic diseases)
-
Non-obstructive( other causes)
To understand that relapsing bronchitis has started, cough will help, during acute inflammation it is long and heavy, and alsobreathing( usually hard and with wheezing and sounds like whistles). If you pay attention to the blood tests of the child, then most likely, you will not find any changes. If changes are observed, they are caused by another disease, but not by recurrent bronchitis. If you make an x-ray( picture), then it will show the enlarged roots of the lungs and, perhaps, the "transparency" of the lungs. If you perform a bronchoscopic examination, you will find catarrhal( or -nary) endobronchitis.
To cure relapsing bronchitis at a time when the disease is exacerbated, or even for prophylaxis, it is necessary to use bronchomunal P for 1 caps / day for 10 days( every month, 3 months). And also an expectorant, for example, mukaltin( 1 tablet 3 or 4 times a day), bromhexine( half a tablet 3 times a day), thoracal elixir( as many drops as your child years 3 or 4 times a day), it is useful to drinkchildren's medicine for cough, ammonia-anise droplets and others. To treat inflammation it is necessary to drink more liquid - tea, warm milk, fruit juice, and also make mustard plasters or baths. Be sure to create conditions in the room where your sick child is - air must be moist( well, if elevated).
It is important to know that sometimes coughing a sick child with medication is not recommended, because it can cause difficulty in separating sputum. But if the cough is dry, then, of course, it is better to suppress it.
Doctors can prescribe antibiotics to a child. Antibiotics( most often macropenes) are usually prescribed in cases when the disease is very difficult.
It is also necessary to prevent acute respiratory infections.
We wish you and your children to cope with such a serious illness as bronchitis and relapse.
