Spazmalgon for headaches and migraines: efficacy and method of application

Spazmalgon for headache (cephalalgia) is a modern combination medicine with a pronounced analgesic and antispasmodic effect. Vascular spasm often causes migraine attacks and other painful sensations in the skull area.

Spazmalgon in ampoules

The medication is produced in two forms: tablets and ampoules for intramuscular use. The injectable form of administration of spazmalgon has an advantage in the presence of nausea and vomiting, in inpatient treatment or in the provision of urgent care (priority of the rate of pain relief).

Spazmalgon components:

  • Metamizole sodium (well-known analgin) is a non-narcotic analgesic. Anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects complement the main analgesic effect.
  • Pitofenone hydrochloride - the action in the body is papaverine-like, an antispasmodic for smooth muscle fibers.
  • Fenpiverinium bromide - M-anticholinergic (blocker). Relaxes spasmodic smooth muscle fibers, reduces gastrointestinal (gastrointestinal) motility.

The pharmacological components of the drug complement and mutually potentiate the therapeutic effects of each substance, therefore, Spazmalgon is effective against excessive headache, providing pain relief even with migraines and severe headaches pain. The components of the drug leave the body through the excretory system, practically do not undergo changes in the liver.

The drug is actively included in the treatment regimen for tension headache, but it will not eradicate the root cause. A person gets relief only for a while, the underlying disease only worsens. The tool is compatible with taking paracetamol and citramon.

Indications for use

Spazmalgon is widely used in therapeutic and surgical practice for spasm and pain of varying intensity.

The drug has broad indications:

  • The scourge of today is neuralgia, migraine attack, headache.
  • Spasm of smooth muscle fibers of the gastrointestinal tract and other internal organs, including infectious and inflammatory genesis. For example, with renal, hepatic or intestinal colic, biliary dyskinesia, cholelithiasis and urolithiasis, algomenorrhea, etc.
  • After some diagnostic hardware manipulation.
  • In the postoperative period.
  • Pain localized in the musculoskeletal system (joints, muscles).
  • To lower body temperature.

When there is no point in taking the drug

Spazmalgon for migraine will not have the proper effect if the root cause of the migraine attack is not a spasm. Dizziness will also not go away, because they are rarely associated with spastic reactions of the bloodstream. Spazmalgon helps to lower blood pressure, so if the headache develops due to low blood pressure, then the drug will not help, but will aggravate the situation.

If the cause of the headache is a serious illness or injury, then you do not need to self-medicate, but you should contact a medical institution for a full examination, diagnosis and treatment at the appropriate specialist. If the drug stops helping or its effect has become insufficient and you have to increase the usual dosage, you need to consult a doctor and be further examined.
