Recipes for prevention
The plant is used to prevent infection with onychomycosis due to its astringent properties. In folk medicine, oak bark is successfully combined with herbal remedies such as propolis, soda, vinegar and various herbs.
BATHROOMS. They perfectly cope with the prevention of nail fungus, if they are done regularly at least 3 times a week.
For 1.5 liters of boiling water, take 4 tbsp. l. bark, simmer for 15 minutes and let it brew for half an hour. Lower your feet into the strained solution, wait until the liquid has cooled, wipe your feet dry, paying special attention to the nail plates. This is the most effective method for the prevention of onychomycosis in traditional medicine.
INFUSION. Used for daily treatment of feet. To prepare it, mix 2 cups of water and 5 tbsp. l. oak bark, put the liquid on the stove, and after boiling, boil it over low heat for 30 minutes. Then leave under the lid for another 2 hours. Infusion rub the feet every evening before bedtime.
COMPRESSES. They are used not only for prevention, but also at the first symptoms of onychomycosis. For cooking, you need 2 tbsp. l. oak bark and 1 tbsp. l. flowers of violet and St. John's wort. Prescriptions for treatment
Oak bark with onychomycosis and candidiasis cannot be an independent drug. Nail fungus is a serious infectious and inflammatory process that can be eliminated in combination medications and folk remedies, less often physiotherapy and surgical removal of the affected areas of the nail.
That is why it is recommended to supplement the main course of drug therapy with recipes from oak bark and prevent subsequent infection and spread of the infectious process. The use of a herbal remedy for medicinal purposes is designed for 14 days.
ANTIFUNGAL OINTMENT. 2 tbsp. l. Mix the crushed bark and the same amount of laundry soap with warm water until it becomes a thick slurry. Apply ointment generously to the foci of onychomycosis in the evening, shortly before bedtime.

CONTRAST BATHS. Prepare a decoction of 2 liters of water and 8 tbsp. l. oak bark, infuse for an hour. Heat half of the solution to 45 degrees, pour into a bath and steam the feet in it for 5 minutes. Then pour a liter of cold water into the same container and continue the procedure for the same amount of time. Repeat the manipulation with the second half of the broth.
COMPRESS WITH HERBS. 3 tbsp. l. oak bark and 2 tbsp. l. combine lilac flowers, calendula and celandine, pour 2 glasses of water, bring to a boil and cook for 20 minutes. The compress is kept from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the severity of the disease.
Use in children, pregnant and lactating
Local treatment with products prepared on the basis of oak bark is not contraindicated in children and women who are in position or are breastfeeding a baby. When applied externally, plant extracts are not absorbed into the systemic circulation, and therefore do not cause side effects.
The only thing that should be noted is the limitation of the use of hot foot baths for expectant mothers - such events can turn into complications for pregnancy. Therefore, they should try other, safer recipes.
Contraindications and side effects
Internal reception of a decoction based on oak bark has many prohibitions, and for local treatment it is only one - individual hypersensitivity to this herbal remedy.
Adverse reactions are extremely rare. Usually they manifest themselves in increased dryness, irritation and flaking of the skin, due to the strong astringent properties of oak bark or the presence of intolerance to its components.
