Zalain, also used for nail fungus, is an affordable and effective remedy. It creates unfavorable conditions for the pathogens of mycosis, provoking their death at the cellular level. The drug has a wide spectrum of action, destroying all known fungi.

Composition, release form

Zalain is produced in the form of a cream and suppositories.

The active ingredient of the drug is sertaconazole. It is a synthetic derivative resulting from the combination of two antifungal components - imidazole and benzothiophene. Thanks to them, Zalain has a pronounced activity against the causative agents of mycosis.

The cream contains:

• sertaconazole 20 mg;
• ethylene glycol;
• palmitostearate;
• paraffin;
• sorbic acid;
• water.

Suppositories are based on:

• sertaconazole 300 mg;
• supporter;
• witepsol;
• silicon.

Indications

The cream is used to combat fungal infections, pathogens of which are sensitive to the active ingredient of Zalain in the following diseases:

• dermatomycosis of the skin;
• athlete's foot;
• trichophytosis;
• pityriasis versicolor.

Zalain suppositories are used for the local treatment of infections localized on the vaginal mucosa, the causative agents of which are sensitive to sertaconazole, including thrush.

The drug has fungicidal and fungistatic activity against the causative agents of mycosis. Also, the agent has an antimicrobial effect, destroying gram-positive microflora - streptococci and staphylococci.

Instructions for use

The duration of treatment with Zalain directly depends on the diagnosis made, the neglect of the pathological process and the type of pathogen. The therapeutic effect is recommended to start with the first symptoms of the disease and continue not less than 14 days after the disappearance of signs of fungal infection, to eliminate the risk of recurrence pathology.

Cream. Zalain is applied with a thin layer on the foci of onychomycosis 2 times a day. When processing, it is necessary to capture up to 1 cm of healthy skin areas. In most cases, symptoms resolve within 2-4 weeks after starting treatment. The average duration of using the cream is 1 month.

Suppositories. Zalain is injected into the vagina once a day. The recommended course of treatment is 10-14 days. If after this period the clinical manifestations of pathology persist, you can repeat the scheme in a week.

Use in children, pregnant and lactating

In the annotation to Zalain cream, there is no data on its use in pediatric practice. This means that it is undesirable for children to prescribe medication due to the unexplored risk of side effects.
