Dropsy testis in men

An epididymis, or hydrocele, is a disease in which a serous fluid accumulates between its own testicle shells, which increases it. The disease can be classified by origin: an inborn form, which in turn can be divided into a communicating and non-communicating, and acquired, divided into idiomatic( primary) and symptomatic( secondary). There is also a classification of the severity of the disease. In this case, acute and chronic forms of the disease are isolated.

A testicle testicle in men is not very common, according to statistics, no more than one percent of the male population is ill. Most often, the acquired form of dropsy is observed in men aged from twenty to thirty years. The congenital form is often diagnosed as early as in childhood.

Causes of

Congenital form of hydrocele occurs if intrauterine development disturbs the processes of obliteration of the appendage of the peritoneum, because of which fluid from the abdominal cavity can enter the shells of the testicle.

The appearance of the acquired form is most often observed as an effect from other diseases, for example, tuberculosis or heart failure, with trauma to the genital organs, with neoplasms of the scrotum organs.

Symptoms of

Symptoms of this disease depend on the current form of dropsy. The most noticeable symptom in any form is a significant increase in the size of the affected organ. With a congenital form, the fluid between the shells arrives in the daytime, and at night some of its outflow occurs. In the case of the acquired form, the amount of accumulated liquid is often constant. If the disease is classified as acute, it manifests itself mainly in acute inflammatory diseases of the scrotum, such as orhoepididymitis and inflammation of the spermatic cord, through severe pain in the groin area and high fever throughout the body.

If the form of the disease is not acute, then as a rule, dropsy of the testicle is difficult to diagnose, because at the beginning of its development this pathology does not manifest itself. There are no painful sensations, no deviations are observed, since the fluid in the testicle shells accumulates rather slowly. The first suspicions of edema of the testicle shells can appear only when the testicle size becomes abnormally large and the patient starts having problems during sexual acts and urination. The affected area can already be distinguished by the following features: it often has an elastic and dense consistency and a smooth surface. At palpation by the doctor painful sensations at the patient are not observed, there is a fluctuation. The skin of the scrotum is easily folded. It is not possible to feel the testicle normally for diagnosis. In the procedure of diaphanoscopy, one can observe how the affected area shines through.

Diagnosis

There are several methods for diagnosing this disease. At the initial stage, the doctor examines the symptoms and produces palpation, which helps him determine the possibility of a dropsy. If the doctor believes that the likelihood that a patient has this disease is high, then the patient is sent for the procedure of diaphanoscopy. Diaphanoscopy is a method of diagnosis, in which a special device transmits a possible affected area. In order to verify the findings made by diaphanoscopy, the patient can also be examined by ultrasound, which finally reveals whether there are areas of fluid accumulation between the testicles.

Treatment

Speaking about the methods of treatment of dropsy in men, then immediately it must be said that only drug treatment can not help, because at the moment there is no drug that can cure the disease. Unless in some cases, with the so-called reactive form of dropsy, the course of antibacterial drugs can be prescribed and stay in complete rest. In any other case, a surgical operation is usually prescribed.
