Androgenic alopecia in women

Androgenic alopecia is currently the most common hair disorder in women, and the cause of their loss in 90% of cases. Most women do not know about the increase in their level of male hormones and for 2-3 years treat all sorts of causes of hair loss, while in the fronto-parietal part of the head their pronounced eruption is not formed.

Androgenic alopecia was not just called an androgenic aldosterone, because to some extent it is associated with an increase in the level of male hormones in the body, or excessive sensitivity to the androgen receptors of hair follicles. Also, this disease can be the result of an increase or decrease in the activity of enzymes that participate in the metabolism of hormones.

From the clinical point of view, androgenic alopecia, which appears from 14 to 40 years, and androgenic alopecia develops in women after 40. In the first case, the disease proceeds chronically with further progression, and in 99% of cases it occurs because of the increase in male hormones. In the second case, the disease develops as a result of a violation of the balance between female and male hormones, due to a decrease in the former.

In the medical literature, androgenic alopecia, which develops to 40 years, is usually described as a pronounced androgenization of a woman, accompanied by blackheads, oily seborrhoea, changes in the menstrual cycle and body hair. However, in practice, androgenic alopecia in women is rarely accompanied by such symptoms and in most cases is limited only by the hair loss in the frontotemporal area.

The main thing that a woman should understand for herself - alopecia is only an external manifestation of the general androgenization of her body, and manifestations of the disease only on the scalp have only a temporary positive effect, while the general androgenization of the body continues and leads to changes in the psyche, the buildup of muscle mass, A change in the ovaries in the form of polycystosis, changes in social behavior, to pre-diabetes( the sensitivity of the cells of the body to insulin decreases, and therefore increases the level of sugar in the blood).

The above conditions develop, of course, not in the first year of androgenation of the body. From the onset of the development of the disease to the manifestation of these symptoms is 5-15 years. This leads to a decrease in the ability to conceive, social disadaptation( among women, the percentage of divorces is large), changes in sexual orientation.

Therefore, a woman suffering from androgenetic alopecia, as well as its treating specialists: trichologist, endocrinologist or dermatologist, must foresee the results of the development of androgenization of the entire body of the patient and not be limited to treating the disease only by external cosmetic influences. A woman should realize that the altered metabolism of the male hormone, which began once in her body, continues throughout life. And only regular scheduled treatment will make it possible to avoid all unpleasant manifestations and consequences of androgenization of her body.
