How is prosthetic male testis performed?

click fraud protection

Prosthetic testis is one of the most common cosmetic operations in andrology. The aesthetic result almost always corresponds to the expectations of the patient, which makes the procedure popular. Prosthetics make it possible to hide the absence of an organ as a result of a disease or injury, thereby restoring to the man the self-confidence and the possibility of a full sexual life.

Testicular implant

The task of prosthetics is to restore the anatomical integrity of the genitals by installing an artificial testicle and to help the man thus feel his intimate fullness, to relieve him of psychological problems.

Indications

The only indication for prosthetics of the testicle is the absence of an organ in the proper place( inoshonke).The procedure is carried out for one testicle, and for both at once. The need to install a prosthesis can occur in the following situations:

instagram viewer
  • testicular tumor( seminoma);
  • serious injury;
  • inflammatory processes;
  • complications after surgical interventions in the groin( hernia repair, etc.);
  • abnormalities of testicle development( monarchism, anarchism, etc.);
  • cryptorchidism( if testicles can not be lowered into the scrotum).

In all these situations, a man does not have one or both testicles in his scrotum. Lack of one testicle does not interfere with full sexual life and conception of the child, but causes some discomfort( primarily in the aesthetic sense).In the absence of both testicles, maintenance hormone therapy is required. In any of these situations, it is possible to perform prosthetics of the organ and install implants by a simple operation.

Prosthetic testis is not a vital procedure. Many men perfectly live with one testicle and do not experience because of incomplete completion of organs. Unfortunately, not all men are able to accept the absence of this part of the body. Lack of a testicle and an empty scrotum create a multitude of complexes and lead to serious problems in the sexual sphere. Implantation of the testicle avoids such situations and helps to restore self-confidence after the prosthesis.

Contraindications

Prosthesis of the testis is not performed in such conditions:

  • infectious diseases of the genital organs in the acute stage;
  • inoperable forms of testicular cancer;
  • cicatricial deformities of the scrotum;
  • lack of tissue to accommodate the endoprosthesis;
  • individual intolerance to implant materials.
In each case, the question of the operation is decided individually after a thorough examination of the patient.

Preparation

Ultrasound of scrotum

The scrotal ultrasound allows to measure the size of the testicle for the exact selection of the prosthesis

Prosthetic testis is an invasive intervention requiring specific preparation:

  • general blood and urine tests;
  • blood tests for infectious diseases;
  • hormonal profile( to assess the function of the remaining testicle);
  • scrotal ultrasound.

In the presence of one testicle, an ultrasound scan is carried out with measurement of all sizes. Such manipulations allow you to accurately determine the size of the implant, so that the result fully satisfies the patient's expectations.

Before the procedure, a compulsory consultation of the therapist is shown. During the visit, the doctor should be informed of all existing chronic diseases. Having full information about the patient's health, the doctor will be able to take the necessary measures to prevent possible complications of prosthetics.

For 7-10 days before implantation it is recommended:

  • to refuse from alcohol and smoking( to ensure normal blood flow in the operated zone).
  • stop taking medications that affect the blood coagulation system( as agreed with the doctor).
Directly on the eve of the procedure, it is necessary to shave off the hair on the skin of the scrotum and inguinal area. If the operation is performed under anesthesia, the patient is forbidden to eat 12 hours before the manipulation. You can drink water without gas.

Technique for performing

Testicular prosthesis is performed under local or general anesthesia. The whole operation takes about 30 minutes and is performed under sterile conditions. The choice of anesthesia will depend on the general condition of the patient, the presence of a chronic pathology of the internal organs, and the extent of the intervention.

After the injection of the anesthetic, the surgeon makes a cut on the skin of the scrotum and prepares the space for implant placement. Endoprosthesis of the testicle is placed in the formed pocket, after which the doctor puts a few stitches on the scrotum. After the operation is completed, the scrotum is placed in a special suppository to protect the postoperative wound from various injuries.

Selection of testicular endoprostheses

A wide selection of endoprostheses allows you to choose the most suitable option for each patient individually

Choosing an implant

A modern testicular prosthesis is an organ made of a synthetic material( high quality silicone).Inside the prosthesis is a silicone gel, giving the implant a special shape and density. The endoprosthesis is selected individually for each patient. After the operation, the testicles are practically not different from the real ones. A person who is far from plastic surgery, it is difficult to suspect the presence of an implant.

Follow-up after operation

Within 2 hours after the operation, the patient is in the ward under the supervision of the attending physician and nurse. If the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, the doctor can release the patient on the same day. After anesthesia, it may be necessary to observe in the hospital for 1-2 days.

Urological examination is carried out 1,5-2 hours after the operation and the next day. The doctor makes a bandage, processes the seams and gives recommendations for further recovery. Sutures are removed for 10 days. Seam treatment with antiseptics can be carried out at home.

In the first day after the operation, some discomfort and slight pain can be felt in the scrotal area. There may be a slight swelling. Such symptoms are considered a common phenomenon after prosthetics and pass on their own within 24-48 hours. If the condition does not improve or the symptoms grow, you should definitely see a doctor.

Recommendations for recovery after surgery :

  1. After the procedure, antibiotics of a wide spectrum of action are prescribed for a period of 5-7 days( for the prevention of infectious complications).
  2. During the first three days it is not recommended to lift weights and do heavy physical work.
  3. Quality cotton underwear should be worn before the joints are healed.
  4. It is recommended to avoid long walks, walking, running for 14 days after the operation.
  5. You should not visit the sauna, sauna, swimming pool and solarium in the first month after the prosthesis.
  6. The intimate life is forbidden before removal of seams and control check of the urologist.

Return to the usual rhythm of life occurs within 2-4 weeks. A month after the operation, normal physical activity and exercise are allowed. Restrictions on sexual life are removed after the removal of stitches.

Possible complications of

Prosthesis of the testicles is not the most difficult operation and usually proceeds without complications. In rare cases, the appearance of such reactions is possible:

  • bleeding;
  • infection of a postoperative wound;
  • is an allergic reaction to anesthetics.

Some complications develop already on the operating table, while others arise after a few days. The development of an undesirable reaction is indicated by the following symptoms:

  • pain or discomfort in the scrotum after insertion of the prosthesis;
  • scrotal edema;
  • hematoma( blood clots);
  • bleeding after a surgical wound;
  • suppuration of sutures;
  • increased body temperature.
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should immediately call your doctor.

Choosing the correct implant model and observing the technique of the operation reduces the probability of complications to a minimum.
